I have never felt the need to leave a negative review on anything until today. If you want the short version, it’s this… the pricing of this store has gone too far, and I highly recommend those who are looking to donate go to goodwill instead (much more honest business practices and better pricing) If you care to listen to my rant, continue reading.
To preface: I have been a huge fan of savers for years. I have been a part of the savers shopping club since I was in middle school and have had so much fun thrifting. When I started thrifting here, there were many coupons coming into my email and every holiday the store was half off, not to mention had dressing rooms. Then Covid hit and since then the store has gotten worse and worse. Now I will say that im a college student, which means I am privileged to afford some of the ups in pricing like the fact that most dresses are at least $12 now (which is also unfortunate but I figure what is one to do) but today I sadly have to admit that the prices are so expensive that I decided to put back the items I found because I was so disappointed with the business as a whole.
The woman who works behind the counter is kind and said she does not pick out the prices which I could have guessed as whoever does I’m sure would never show their face to any shoppers. However one woman, when I asked if anyone does buy these items, said that they’re priced that way because they have resellers that come in often and they price them so that resellers can buy them and sell them for double. I’m talking about necklaces for $300! Granted they are beautiful, but thrift stores got them for free. Today my final straw was a Pink Floyd shirt that yes, is vintage, but also, isn’t a thrift store the place to go when you want vintage clothes but can’t afford the price of resale?!? I’m talking this was a dream shirt for a while as a long time Pink Floyd fan. Well to wrap it up this Pink Floyd shirt was $100 and that is what finally made me feel as though I cannot support savers anymore. The worst part to me is that these items are donated from people who either didn’t know the worth or otherwise simply disagreed with reselling vintage clothes and thought donating was a better moral option. Please, if you have anything of value, do not give it...
Read moreI have been shopping at savers, goodwill and other thrift stores for several years. at Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat I do because it’s for a good cause. At savers because I can find items hard to find these days (also at the other stores), but it’s a publicly held, for-profit thrift store so I have mixed feelings about the concept. I have been inclined at stopping going to savers more recently, for two reasons: 1) their prices are way high compared to other thrift stores, 2) the savers near me, in Wilmington MA, has a very rude staff, who go above and beyond to make your shopping experience an unpleasant one, like they hate their jobs. From the guy who puts newly donated items away, to the guy who puts new items from the back to the front of the store, placing them at any empty spot. Except for clothes, all other items seem randomly placed on shelves. They could be selling more if buyers knew where to find what they are looking for. But the worst is the multiple employees kept in the front by the cash registers, not actually ringing each customers but doing it in a way, in the worst possible manner. I personally feel harassed when scanning items, with questions like: is this coat yours or ours, take it out of the cart and put it on so we know it’s yours, did you scan this (pointing at something I just put back in the cart from the counter). They have random items placed in plastic bags and hung by the wall. Many of them have holes on it. I bought one that had, and the lady asked me if all items were already in it. She stayed next to me the whole time staring at every scan. This has happened several times. I hear the same from friends and family members. If Savers’ policies require these employees to be this rigorous, why not just make all the 5 or so workers they have by the registers to actually scan, instead of being rude to customers. I have been a very good customer of the savers in Wilmington MA, but I don’t need to shop and be disrespected...
Read moreThis has been my favorite savers up until today. I drive 40 minutes just to get here instead of going to other locations that are closer because i have generally enjoyed my experience at this store. Serious attitude problem from the employees when asking to look at the jewelry. I don’t usually go in the morning/afternoon but i had today off and have not been in a while so i stopped by. I walked up to the checkout counter to ask to see jewelry and had three employees just talking to each other and not bothering with any customer service. When one of them finally asked what i needed help with she did not say a single hi or how are you and had a blank face the entire time i asked her to check out some of the pieces and she said someone would be over. As i walked over there the employees loudly talked about how they did not want to do the jewelry counter and when she finally came over she sighed and gave me an attitude and slammed the jewelry door every time i asked to see something which was only three different items. I told her that i will take all three items and i watched her put them in the bag and ahe asked my name for them. I told her i was going to look at some clothes before checking out. Well when i went to check out another employee brought over the jewelry and it only had one item in it. I told him i said i had three pieces. He asked who helped me and I pointed her out. She then loudly said at the checkout line with an attitude in front of several customers she aaid she didn’t want them. I said i wanted them. Instead of offering to help me get the other jewelry items again she instead told me NO you said you didn’t want them. Which was not true at all. She was extremely bitter and mean my entire encounter with her and then when i went to checkout she continued with her disgusting attitude. If you dont like your job so much where you want to be rude to the people that are shopping there then maybe quit if you’re...
