iI bought one about five years ago, I special ordered it with stainless steel rings at each end, the galvanized ones rust here in the Keys, one on a prior hammock, not Outer Banks, split and a guest fell, it rusted through at the bottom of the ring where it could not be seen, covered by the rope material. They charged me ten dollars extra then, and that seemed fair. Out of those five years, I estimate four have been with it slung outside in the elements, only the varnished pieces of wood separators show signs of wear, and just on the top side. I was going to order another one but saw the price was an extra $50 for the stainless rings option now, and that is way out of line. Granted, it includes two other pieces of stainless hardware for mounting, but one does not need those again.........so I decided not to buy a replacement and to re-stain and urethane the wood separators myself.
