Terrible Customer Service & Concerning Firearm Handling
Mine and my husbands experience at the Sportsman’s Warehouse in Wilmington was beyond disappointing. From the start, the first employee we spoke with was dismissive and rude, making an unnecessary assumption about my husbands profession based solely on his demeanor, said those words verbatim. Instead of engaging in any real customer service, he gave us short, one-word responses and acted as if we were inconveniencing him by simply asking questions. His condescending attitude made it clear that he had no interest in helping us, and it set a terrible tone for the rest of our visit.
Things only got worse when two other employees handled the firearm my husband was purchasing. While inspecting it, they dropped the firearm while it was disassembled, which could potentially lead to internal damage that has yet to be determined. Rather than taking their time to properly reassemble it, they blandly forced parts together without aligning them correctly, putting unnecessary stress on the components. When trying to install the barrel, they incorrectly forced it into the receiver, applying unnecessary pressure instead of properly seating it. To top it all off, when we asked if we needed to buy the warranty that day, one of them tried to pressure us into purchasing it by coldly stating, “We’d prefer it if you bought it today,” while giving us a hard stare. The entire experience felt like we were dealing with a group of employees who saw themselves as superior, yet their clear lack of firearm knowledge and unprofessionalism proved otherwise. This was hands down one of the worst firearm purchasing experiences I’ve had, and I would strongly advise others to take their...
Read moreAfter considering archery for quite a few years I decided to explored my options in a compound bow from Sportsman’s. Krash was very knowledgable and patient in explaining everything to me. I couldn’t have asked for a better archery tech. On 8/24, I made the plunge and bought an entry-level bow. I didn’t want to spend too much because I wasn’t sure if I would like the sport. When it came time to perform the sizing Krash instructed me to pull the string back for the first time. The bow broke. Luckily, no one was hurt. I totally understand that products can break or be defective. I understand the waiver I signed in reference to bows and the danger of them. Chris, the archery manager couldn’t have been nicer and apologized and promised to try to make it right. My problem now is that I have paid for a bow, but I do not have the bow. Sportsman has to make a warranty claim on my behalf and I have to wait for who knows how long before I get word from the manufacturer. I asked about making an exchange for another bow, but I was told that I would have to wait to hear back from the manufacturer. I guess the upper management at Sportsman’s would rather let me walk out empty handed, than to sell me another bow and for them to deal with the warranty claim later.
This was my first buy from Sportsman’s Warehouse and it will be the last. This is too bad because the guys on the floor are the best. I work at a national retailer and we would never let this happen...
Read moreI ordered a gun online on July 14th. Per the emails that I have received the gun has been delivered to the store. When I called to check the progress on my order I was very rudely interrupted by the call taker and informed that if I was not called that the gun is not ready for pick up then was hung up on. Not a way to do business in my opinion. Especially when the last person that I talked to regarding conflicting emails told me that he had tracked the shipment and it would be ready for pick up on the day that I called a second time and was hung up on.
Update: still haven’t received a call that the gun I have already purchased is ready for pick up even though I was told on July 19th that it would be delivered on the 20th. It is now July 24th.
Update #2: the saga continues, I called today (July 24th) and was informed by the receiving manager that my order had been delivered on the 20th and that he was going to figure out what was going on and that he would call me back. Two hours later the hunting department manager called me and informed me that he had hoped I wasn’t paying attention to the tracker and that they could just get away with the fact that the gun came in scratched and knicked on the carrier and that he just ordered me a new one with an ETA of July 26-28th. Had the store been upfront in the first place and kept me informed through the phone number that is given when the order is placed this would have never...
