Fleur de Lis Cheese Shop — Local services in Winchester

I visited Berkeley Springs with a friend, intending on visiting the spa. We had extra time and walked around town for a bit, eventually stumbling across Fleur de Lis Cheese Shop.

It's not every day that I stumble across an artisan cheese shop with a legit cheese monger who can pair you with all the cheese things you love. I love all cheeses, but tend to lean towards bloomy rinds and was paired up with Pipe Dreams -- a goat cheese with a bloomy veg ash rind. Lemony, chalky (not in a bad way), creamy smooth finish.

I STILL think of that cheese. I'm sure their offerings will change. and that specific cheese may not be in stock. But there would surely be others in the bloomy rind family just as exceptional.

Cute little shop in Berkeley Springs, WV. No steps to get into the place. The main floor is unobstructed but it is a pretty small shop. They sell artisan cheeses, so the prices are a little higher than you would find at a regular grocery. They have a very nice young man working behind the counter who is very helpful. Also, they are happy to give you a bite to try before you buy. There is also a selection of things that go with cheese, crackers, jams, etc. and they have a cheese club. Stopped by a couple weeks ago and had a great first time experience. The owner was extremely nice and informative, explaining the different types of cheeses offered. There's also flexible options for purchase, some as small as just a couple ounces, which makes it perfect to get a variety to try out.
