It's just basically worn out even with the remodelling of the bricks and granite on the roadway between the stores. Some of the granite is busted, along with the bricks. The splash pad smells horrible at times during the summer months. The thing that gets me the most is that you only have one public restroom and it should of been put in close to the center of the mall and the big kicker is that you charge everyone a quarter to use it for 10 minutes. So, I tested it to see what would happen if I wasn't done in the 10 minutes the doors came open. How embarrassing would you feel if you were the one using the bathroom and that happened? Charging customers and anyone to use a bathroom is totally RIDICULOUS, just like all the paid parking we have to pay to spend money at the stores down on the old mall and you even raised the price of the parking to. I don't like going places where I'm gonna already spend money in the stores, but before I can even do that I have to pay the ridiculous prices to use your meters to park my car! It's the same old dirty mall that it was 20yrs ago, drunks at night and people harassing you for money during the day! It was a better place 30yrs ago, looked better to and you didn't have to pay hardly anything or nothing to park to spend your money! The only good thing about the old mall is the old courthouse...
Read moreI want to give it 5 stars but the groups of homeless and pan handlers harassing tourists and customers need to be removed from the area. There needs to be a permanent police presence there to keep the riff raff out. My wife and I were there for almost 5 hours and we didn't see one police officer. Meanwhile customers are being harassed like we were while eating outdoors at an absolutely amazing restaurant Awabi, we were harrassed while we ate by these roving groups of panhandlers and homeless. They chased away several tourists that were going to go there to eat. I get there is a homeless issue but you need to protect your businesses in your tourist areas. Keep the beggars out let them beg else where not where you are trying to bring in tourist dollars. I am adding a photo of the scumbags that harassed my family and I and others at Awabi. As you can see 2 were right next to the restaurant patio entrance the others roughly 12 are sitting on the planter box. They were hurling insults at customers and any passersby that refused to give them money or food. Awabi is an absolute gem, as is old town Winchester but you are letting the riff raff ruin what would have been a great experience for my family and for other tourists. They city...
Read moreMy son took me out for a Mother's Day dinner on a weekday afternoon. We wandered the mall, exploring and shopping. We came across so many fascinating, interesting, original and fun shops. There was such a diverse variety of shops and merchandise to browse through. We had a blast. When we were ready for dinner, there were several restaurants to choose from. The menus were posted outside, so we were able to pick one that intrigued us. We sat at an outside table. It was beautiful and delicious and the staff was friendly and attentive. While sitting there, I noticed on my phone that the city of Winchester offered free wifi, which was a nice bonus. The atmosphere is great for a date night or kid friendly for a family outing. There is plenty to do, even if you're not interested in the eclectic offerings. There are plenty of benches for resting or people watching. There's a children's museum and a fountain play area for kids that my grandkids love. It is so close, such fun and free. You just can't go wrong with...
