Winchester Book Gallery is the place to go if you’re looking for a small, tidy place with a wonderful atmosphere! It’s a really quaint little spot. It’s a judgement free zone, and everybody is really kind and welcoming, both the employees and customers. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed and given praise for my outfit. It’s great that they struck up a conversation with me and seemed interested in getting to know me. Thank you so much! I talked to a pleasant customer who told me she knew the owners as I was looking around the children’s section. She was accompanied by her 3 young girls, all of whom hugged me and talked to me about what they like to do, their elementary school, and about snacks and candy. I love books, bookstores and are an avid reader. I do not live in the area but was visiting. I agree that it’s a lovely, quaint book store but my experience there was not what I had expected. The employee was aloof and not very friendly. She did look up one book for me but it was not in stock. I asked about a stack of books I noticed and she said they were returns or something. She did not bother to ask me if I was interested in one of the books nor did she bother to ask me if she could help me find anything. Very quaint. Friendly and positive atmosphere. I took my teenage (13) granddaughter in and she was in search of some chapter books. I let her ask and the staff was very helpful and courteous. There was a space to sit and read. That day there was an author there for a book signing... so yes if you want nostalgia stop and visit.... mind you I'm born and raised in Winchester been living in MD the last 24 yrs...
