I purchased a ring that was sold to me as a black opal. After wearing it for a short time, I noticed the fire and color disappeared. When I later had it checked at a jewelry store, I was told it was not a black opal at all.

Although I don’t live in Winnemucca, I distinctly remember the owner’s wife selling me the ring and assuring me it was genuine. She even provided a handwritten receipt with the description. Unfortunately, this turned out to be misleading.
