I feel really bad about breaking the 5 star streak but I want to be fair. And I want to say everything was really good and we will be back, so don't take any of this as a knock, just as a way to improve the experience.
The first thing was that it was really bright in there. Like the lights were full blast, like when a bar closes at 2 and are kicking everyone out bright. Normally I don't mind this, but it was too much. Just dimming the lights like 15-25% would have made it perfect. Other than that, the restaurant itself was clean and everything looked nice. (We could see because it was so bright).
Alcohol is BYOB. Unsure if there's a corkage fee, as we didn't partake.
Food was really great. We got the vegetable momo, garlic naan, dal tadka, and lamb vindaloo.
Veg momo was good and the sauce that came with it was awesome. The issue was that the menu stated it was steamed and it came out fried. Looking online, the page with those menu items aren't in the photos on Google maps and the online order states fried, but we ordered it specifically because it said steamed, but now I feel crazy because I don't see it anywhere online. The server offered to remake them but we declined, it was more we weren't expecting it to be fried. They were delicious though.
The naan was really good and perfect for dipping. The dal tadka was really good. We got the medium spice level and it was still pretty mild. For the lamb vindaloo we didn't specify a spice level and it was very mild. If you like any heat, get medium or above. I'll be going for hot next time. The vindaloo was great as well. Really there were no complaints on food. All really really good.
The server was very pleasant and attentive.
We will be back for sure. Keep...
Read moreWe were excited to try some takeout from this restaurant and had high hopes based on the reviews.
Starting with the positive, we ordered online and the food was ready right on time and pickup was fast and easy.
The actual issue was that the food was simply not good. The curries were bland (if you have a really hard time with spice maybe this would work for you). The children’s butter chicken had more spice and flavor than the adult portion, the chicken was tough and dry even sauced. The lamb in the Rogan Josh was the best thing in the order but the curry itself didn’t have a lot of flavor. The samosa was clearly undercooked with raw dough inside but flavor was nice. The Raita was very watery. But the worst of the bunch was the naan which was actually inedible, yellow in color, shoe leather tough, and smelling / tasting very very strongly of bicarbonate soda. Bicarbonate soda used in massive excess can turn bread yellow so clearly something was off in the mix.
I hope it was just an off day but for us we won’t be dining...
Read moreI supported this restaurant enthusiastically at first—the food is good, and one of the owners is kind and welcoming. However, I have repeatedly experienced rude, intrusive, and unprofessional behavior from one staff member. She has asked invasive personal questions, closely monitored my visits, and made inappropriate and Islamophobic comments in public, which left me feeling deeply uncomfortable and unsafe. Recently, a simple, genuine question about the ingredients in a dish was met with sarcasm and dismissiveness. This pattern of disrespect overshadows the quality of the food and the kindness of the other owner. I cannot recommend a place where customers are made to feel judged, targeted, or disrespected. Yesterday was my last visit to them after being repeatedly disrespected. I would rather order from Aromas of India, Masala Elaichi or many other Indian restaurants that are famous in the area and have great customer...
