I usually love to run into Belk when I'm in the neighborhood and generally enjoy shopping there. However, my 2-star rating is based on today's experience when I shopped. I was enjoying shopping around the store and when approached the shoe department there was music blasting from the cosmetics dept. I tried on clothes and could hear the music over the other music that was playing throughout the store that you would normally hear. I found it to be very annoying and distracting. I ran across a gentleman in the ladies dept. and asked if he is a mgr and he told me he was a supervisor. I told him how annoyed I was by the music blasting from the cosmetics dept. and his response was that they were trying something new to see what kind of feedback they received. I can't even imagine that they received positive feedback -- would someone really seek out a manager to tell them how much they liked the music blasting as they shopped? I hope that this feedback reaches the right person.
I have returned to this store multiple times. Although the blaring music is gone, this store has gone to hell in a hand basket. Yesterday the store was a disaster. Trash on the floor, crammed in clothing and the shoe department looked as if a bomb had exploded. The shoes were in such disarray with open boxes piled on top of each other. There was a line to try on clothing and one woman commented that the rooms were full of clothing, and also a long line to check out at the only register that appeared to be open. I was lucky to find a cashier in cosmetics and commented my disappointment to her and she told me they can't get any help. Every time I go in there, I see mgr not doing much should be helping clean up the store. This store needs some help, I won't go back...

Walking into Belk in Florida should come with a waiver: Enter at your own risk — extreme heat may cause sweating, dizziness, and regret. The air conditioning? Nonexistent. It’s as if Belk decided to cut costs by turning the entire store into a giant sauna. I came to shop, not to train for a survival reality show.
The employees look like they’re one melted popsicle away from quitting on the spot. Customers are wandering around like they’re lost in the desert, praying for a breeze that never comes. Want to try on clothes? Only if you enjoy peeling them off your sticky skin in a fitting room hotter than the surface of the sun.
Seriously, Belk — this is Florida, not the Sahara. Maybe spend a little less time rearranging clearance racks and a little more time fixing the A/C. Until then, I’ll happily shop somewhere that doesn’t require hydration breaks between...
Read moreIt was my First time in a Belk store as I'm from out of state and just relocated. The experience was far from great. The employees were the most horrendous.... we as well as other customers had to hunt down someone to check us out, then she told us to go wait for her. 15+ minutes later we all ( customers) were becoming friends and decided to look for another employee. To our shock, she was more interested in chatting in her language to another employee and both ignored the three groups of families waiting to check out! Then we were told to go back to the other girl, the one who NEVER showed the first time! Seriously it was a huge ordeal just to pay for my merchandise. And EVERY single employee was wearing gloves which as a medical professional, drives me crazy when people do this! The sales are great but the...
