Been shopping here ever since they arrived in the plaza. It's a great grocery store, well run, well stocked, with excellent customer service and friendly, helpful staff. The store is well staffed, and if I ever have any inquiry, there's someone to speak to within moments. On a few occasions I've gone to the service desk and requested a special order, and they usually can find the item for me and do call when it arrives. I am so pleased that they have not resorted to self check-out like some other chains, because I much prefer the convenience, friendly, cashier and bagging service.
Publix is understandably a little more pricy compared to some other grocery stores, but I firmly believe and have experienced that the produce, seafood, meats and deli offerings, and other things, are that much better, to warrant it. Publix has many choices in whatever category of food and non-food items you're looking for. It's highly unusual to get a bad item, yet they are exceptional in their manner to promptly exchange it for you. I've never once had any issues with the quality of service or staff. Even the parking lot is kept clear of stray carts and litter. I'm always impressed.
Really the only negative I can think of was when I thought to take advantage of your Dry Ice (along the front wall at check-out), and found you only offered a roughly 5lb block, and the cost was like $46. Yikes! I would certainly purchase some if you offered smaller, less pricy quantities. Also I was told, at the time, to fetch it myself, and did use the single glove available to retrieve it (before I learned it was a huge block, and high priced). It seems to me, only staff should handle Dry Ice, although I personally understand the precautions and have handled it properly many times. Also, I can't imagine you can properly keep a single glove's interior sanitized well, considering covid and all. Some training and improved policy may be in order. A bagger, I believe, was asked to return the block to the freezer (when I changed my mind, due the high price), and initially was using his bare hands until I pointed out how unsafe that was, and an assistant manager, I think, had him use the glove. But please Do Keep the dry ice service, as I think it's wonderful. Though I personally would much prefer smaller quantities if that's something you could work out. It's really useful in some situations, ie shipping frozen food, ice box goes out unexpectedly, long car trips with frozen food, etc.
Oh, there was one other time (pre-covid, so, a few years ago) where I was displeased, when some kids were going up to cars as they were parking, trying to make sales of candy bars. Knowing that Publix does often allow bonefide charities or organizations (ie Salvation Army or the Girl Scouts) to set up outside the entrance at certain times of the year, I know that roving sales in the parking lot was probably not their doing, I asked the customer service desk if they were aware of it. They were not, and a manager swiftly went out to address it. The problem is, some unscrupulous parents use their kids to act as fake charities to make them money, and I believe I could tell that's what these kids were up to. Their so-called organization's credentials were nothing I'd ever heard of, were very sloppy and looked home-made. I do not blame the kids however.
In any case, thanks for being a high quality, friendly, neighborhood grocery store, and keep up the good work! I really respect how Publix, as a family owned business, has continued to maintain excellence over the decades, and treats its staff...
Read moreI do not usually write reviews to grocery stores but I had a great experience the other day in multiple departments. In the deli the person that was getting my meat for me was so nice. Then I moved onto the fish department to grab some sushi and I didn’t see the sushi that I liked so I asked the lady and younger gentleman that were there to make me a special one. They said what I wanted may be hard to put in a sushi roll but they decided to try anyways (salmon, cucumber, cream cheese, avocado) it worked and I was so happy they did it for me. Checking out the two ladies that helped me were great, the cereal I had gotten was open and the bagger went and got me a new one. I had called in Publix earlier to get boxes for moving and I let the woman at the register know and she right away got them to call for the person in charge of grocery and explained to me it would take a few minutes. A few minutes later the grocery person was not there yet and the person at the registered again followed up and had customer service page him again and explained to me that sometimes he takes awhile to get up front but she is trying to get him. A couple of minutes later a manager passed by and the woman informed the manager I was waiting for him. A minute later the grocery person came with my boxes! I appreciated the woman’s communication and her being on top of helping me. The grocery person offered to help me take the boxes to the car which was nice as I...
Read moreEven though this Publix has not been remodeled yet, the fact that it's so close to my home, gives it a real advantage over the Dean Rd. & the Oviedo stores. I really appreciate the Deli dept. @ this store, because they've got 4 stations that are usually staffed, so each staff member is preparing a Publix Sub for four customers. And each Sub is made by one individual staff member for an individual customer, & to that customer's individual taste as to what toppings that person wants included in the final product, heated or not. At the modified Publix stores, they are currently making their Subs as an assembly line. One Deli worker slices the selected loaf of bread & applies the sandwich spread, passes the bread to the next Deli station, where the various meats, tuna and/or cheese's are put on the sandwich. Then another member wraps the sandwich, places it in the appropriate bag & affixes the price label. It is so much simpler at "my" Publix. If they ever modify my store, I might just have to find another unmodified store to use. I also enjoy the way the various types of food products are sold at the Deli dept., such as the Sushi & Chinese ready made products are all in the SAME Deli dept., as it's more convenient. And last, but not least, "A Big pat on the back" to the entire Deli dept. staff for "a Job Well Done". Always fast, safe, courteous & helpful & let's not forget the cleanliness @...
