Dollar General — Local services in Winterset

I was so excited to go to the dollar general store in winterset after the remodel until the manager was so extremely rude. Went up to the check out and like most dollar general stores it looked like there was a self checkout. Since no one was up front I decided to go ahead and use that. I scan my item and put it in to the bag and then the manager came out very rudely saying there is no self checkout and hasn’t been for the last 2 years. Ok, sure looks like a self check out but no problem. My problem is the way he reacted with such a rude comment. When I responded with are you always like this he stated he’s always working as if that’s an excuse to be rude to customers. I work full time also like most adults so that is no excuse to be rude. I see people comment how rude he is on Facebook all the time and now I understand why. He is rude and should not be working front end of a store with customers. Put him in the back stocking far away from us where I truly think he belongs. Dollar General, please do better by your customers and stop letting this manager...

Very nice and friendly people work there. So caring and heartfelt. The only thing is, no matter what time of day, there is always a wait. Again, I want to stress they are super sweet, and cordial, and endearing just not a quick in and out. Not even a place u want to go shopping if you are some what in a hurry. Always make sure you have 30 mins plus to make sure you can get through the check out. The shopping is great, not the checkout. Make sure you have your phone in hand and play a game or read an article while standing in line. It doesn't make sense in why they can not keep 2 registers open at all time. U gotta love Dollar General! Everything is so cheap. I love the new store! Its way bigger then the old one so they have alot more merchandise. Everyone that works 4 Rod is awesome! Friendly and helpful and they are always smiling. That means alot to the public. Your time waiting in line is short. They have good sales to. Its my favorite place to shop...
