Urban Taproom and Grille — Restaurant in Winterset

$15.00 for this that’s insane!!!!!! That’s worth maybe $5 it’s the size a kids portion if that!!!!! What else gets me is this is $15.00 and you get a tiny portion but to make it even worse you don’t get a side!! So we will not ever be ordering from here again!!! This is why places fail in Winterset because they do great for the first few weeks with taste and portions, then they don’t stay consistent!!!! I ordered the Mac and cheese in the first week or so of them opening. The portion was great and the flavor was amazing. Then ordered it 2-3 weeks later and the portion was the same but there was no flavor and missing some of the ingredients described. Then order it again this time trying to give them another chance and the portion was terrible and the flavor was still bland and even my 3 year old...

We were driving through town and wanted a place to eat supper. We saw this online and figured we’d stop. never heard of it before. very clean and fancy. great wait staff and we noticed the cleanliness while cooking the pizzas. we didn’t get alcohol but they had a bunch of good sounding drinks. the alfredo was awesome and the garlic bread is to die for. burnt ends and coleslaw were great as well. but the chicken nachos are the best i’ve ever had and now ill be craving something not local to me making us roadtrip there!! we loved it. the only thing is it’s kind of hard to find since there is no lights indicating the building. i think a lit sign would attract more customers or just people driving through town like us!...

Had the Fish n chips, other half had the tenderloin sandwich. Also ordered Onion strings appetizer. Common theme for the entire meal was: underseasoned & slightly overcooked. Not the worst meal but just underwhelming. If you want to go to a bar that serves food this will fit the bill. Most likely a been there, done that experience. Service was OK, waiter was also tending bar so saw little of him. He apologized saying he was so busy. They had a decent crowd but not what I would categorize as super busy. As for the facility itself it reminded me of someone's idea of a man cave. Garage door windows let in a draft so we ate while wearing our coats. Lightning was too dim. Prices at least...
