Fareway Meat and Grocery — Local services in Winterset

We are big fans of Fareway, staff is always friendly. They off a great selection of food options. Love their meat department, some of the freshest and best meat around hands down. This location, however, differs from some as you would expect. They do not offer quite as much of a selection in their meat department in my opinion compared to others. I also usually will get my potato salad fresh from the counter, however, it seemed to be a little more on the runny side. Might have just been a one time deal really have not tried again as we are new to the area. One of Fareways best options in my opinion is the staff help bring your groceries to your vehicle and unload them for you. As always - the store is clean, the shelves are well stocked, & all the employees are friendly & more than willing to help you in any way they possibly can - all with a warm & friendly 🙂 smile on their face. I live in a small town that has a Walmart about the same distance away as this Fareway, but I still prefer coming down to this store in lieu of going to Walmart. Main reason being - Walmart is usual a mess & hard to get around to what you need due to the aisles being full of boxes of items that need put on shelves. This makes it hard for a person that is disabled & trying to shop using an electric cart ! Or trying to get to an item that you can't get to bcuz of the boxes being in the way ! They shouldn't bring them out till they are ready to be stocked on the shelves, or done at night like they...

Fareway is a great place to shop. They have been in Winterset for as long as i can remember. They have the best meat department of any grocery store in Iowa i think. They have a huge variety of food. They have great sales every week and they rarely run out of their sale items. The produce is fresh and doesnt look like its a day from going in the garbage.
