I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Northern Tool & Equipment store in Woodbury. I purchased a new trimmer, and on the second day of use, the string broke. Not a huge deal, but for a brand-new piece of equipment, I expected at least some basic support.
When I went to the store, I was shut down almost immediately and told I didn’t buy the extended coverage plan. I explained to the manager that I run a landscaping business, and we rely on professional equipment daily. We’ve bought plenty of tools and warranties before, most of which turn out to be a long, frustrating process with little benefit. I wasn’t looking for anything unreasonable, just a bit of understanding and customer service.
Instead, the manager chose to argue and dismiss me, even going so far as to suggest I didn’t know what I was talking about. Regardless of who’s “right,” that kind of attitude is uncalled for. As someone who has spent thousands of dollars at Northern Tool over time, I left the store feeling disrespected and disappointed.
It’s not about the broken string, it’s about the lack of professionalism. A little respect and empathy go a long way. Northern Tool lost a loyal customer today. I hope management takes this as an opportunity to remind their team what customer service...
Read moreBest customer service I have ever received in my life! I was hauling in a heavy generator for recall repairs and a guy saw me struggling with this thing and my 4 year old daughter. The guy met me I'm the middle if the parking lot and offered his help. After carrying it all the way in he hung out near the service desk and made sure that I was being helped. After being helped super fast and friendly chat I asked the associate who also had spoken to me on the phone, please let the manager know how great this gentleman was that helped me at the door and how wonderful and kind he was along with himself and the tall gentleman introduced himself to me now as the store manager LOL! he was actually leaving for the day and on his way out of the store and took time out of his day to stop and help a frazzled mom in the middle of a parking lot with a heavy generator. the associate that I spoke with on the phone who I did not give my name to knew it was me when he came up to the counter because I was carrying the generator which I asked him about on the phone and he helped me instantly. Read moreJust a little tidbit info for folks especially with this covid. They have by far the worst return policy I have ever heard of during this outbreak. I went because I work construction and needed new safety clothing and they carry some of the better items. And instead of ordering on line I figured it was just best to go in and get it. At that point I find out that not only can you not try on anything, even to see if the coat or vest runs big or small, but that wasent the kicker. When I check out the cashier says I have to read the return policy sitting there on the counter. That's where it states that I cant return anything either at all for any reason. So not only can I not make sure the stuff fits, I cant bring it back or exchange it because it didnt fit. I get it, theres the outbreak but that's just a bit excessive to me.
