I cannot say enough good things about this place and the incredible people who work here, seriously. Every time I stop by (admittedly most times just to browse and not looking for anything specific) I end up finding something interesting, as well as having good conversations with the guys who work there. Just the other day, I was off work early and looking to kill some time. I stopped inside, and noticed an old Sega Dreamcast for sale. Having missed out on the Dreamcast during it's heyday, I decided to pick this one up and experience it for the first time. I picked up the Dreamcast, and an assortment of games to go with it. The gentleman who was working cut me a massive deal: he threw in 2 games for free, as well as a memory card for the Dreamcast! I totally would have left the store not knowing I needed it to play games, so I thought it was very classy that he threw it in for me, and free to boot! He was fun to chat with, very friendly, and knew a lot about video game history.
As I was leaving the store, I remembered that I was looking for a new controller for my NES as well and asked what they had in stock. So what does the guy do? He grabs a brand new NES controller off the shelf and give it to me for free! I was almost speechless. Definitely the best experience I've ever had buying video games, I will now make it a point to come here first and stay away from places like eBay or Amazon.
If you are looking for anything retro related: I highly recommend that you check this place out. Brick and mortar video game shops are a rarity nowadays. Even more of a rarity is A+ customer service and passionate employees when you find places like this. Hi Score is definitely a gem, so make sure to appreciate it...
Read moreVery nice little store with an awesome selection. I was up visiting the Mall of America with my wife for her birthday. We made the trip up from Iowa. As I am a collector I like to look for the brick & mortar stores that sell used games and consoles and this was one of the area stores I stumbled on.
I ended up purchasing a copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Greatest Hits) that is in very good condition. I noticed the asking price was a tad high so I asked the man at the counter (not sure if the owner or employee) if he'd be willing to take an offer. We discussed it and agreed on a price. We also got to talking about games and our shared history of having worked video game retail at Toys R Us.
All in all a great experience and I'd happily go back again. I have read some reviews complaining about prices. Maybe try making an offer, worst they can say is no. If they didn't mistreat you in some way pricing is hardly a reason to tear someone's business down with a 1 Star Review. We need these stores to stick around, let's help hold them up instead of the negativity.
Thanks to Hi Score for a wonderful purchasing experience. Very happy to finally get this one in...
Read moreVery disturbing experience here on March 7, 2020. The sole employee (on a Saturday) spent more time chatting with his friends about current memes and his video side projects along with bragging that he is the only one working, than he did working with customers. After waiting by the register for close to 10 minutes, without being acknowledged or asked if assistance was needed, when my wife and I turned to leave, we placed the item we had intended to purchase back on the counter where it had came from and proceeded to leave the store. The employee then decided to ask if we needed help, and when my wife told him we were no longer interested in purchasing anything, and that we had placed the item back on the counter, he physically ran after us out of the store and followed us to the mall entrance, trying to offer discounts, and begging us to return. This single minded pursuit bordered on abrasive, rude, and made my wife and child very uncomfortable. This employee has no business being left in charge of a store of this nature unsupervised, especially on a weekend, if they think harassing people is the way to regain a customer they have...
