I used to love this Menards. I rented a truck today and the right windshield wiper kept falling off. I kindly told the desk manager, Camille, and she did not acknowledge me. She handed me the pre check/post check sheet to sign, and told me to sign it. I asked her if I should write that there was something wrong with the wiper and she said, āsure, if you want.ā So I did. Another desk manager, Kelly, walked up to us and I had interacted with her when I picked up the truck so I told her about the wipers and she seemed to have a normal reaction. Camille then acknowledged me and the issue and called someone on the radio to check the wipers. She gave it a couple minutes, in not raining conditions, and decided that they were completely fine. I offered to show her how they were broken, and how I was able to shimmy them back on (and how that was a temporary fix that would come undone every 10-15 minutes under rainy conditions), but she blew me off right away and aggressively told me that she would only knock off ten minutes, as if a discount is all that I cared about. I donāt trust that when Menards has a safety issue with their vehicles, that they would take the issue serious and get it fixed. I donāt understand how someone that treats customers and safety issues with such contempt and carelessness is able to run the manager desk. I work in transportation and I understand what goes into checking vehicles and there was no reason for her to treat me or the situation the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in tonight to purchase a tow behind log splitter. I have looked at these also at Home Depot. After research I chose the one from Menards. My regular store in Fox Lake was out of them and they let me know Woodstock had 3. I drove a half hour to Woodstock went inside to the display and told the associate that I would like to buy the splitter. He proceeded to tell me I needed to take one still in a box not assembled. This unit is a trailer style and is extremely heavy and if they loaded it in my truck there is no way it could be unloaded by hand. I would compare this to buying a lawn tractor. Do they sell those unassembled? No. I asked him to check with his manager which he did and came back and said that if I wanted it assembled there would be an assembly fee. Nothing is noted on the display about an assembly fee. Home Depot does not have an assembly fee, you just hook it up to your hitch and tow it away. Sad that they will lose this sale as well as me second guessing any future purchases of lawn equipment from Menards. That one was right there that could have been sold and another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe customer service at this Menards actually rates 10 stars!! Every single time I go there, every single employee I encounter gives fantastic customer service. The one thing I don't like about the store is the setup. I often find sales items hard to find on my own. But I have learned to make a list of what I want with the sku numbers and any sales associate is happy to look up those skus to not only tell me where to find my items but to show me. Each time whoever is helping always asks if I need help with anything else. They all seem to love what they do. Kudos to Menards for the fantastic job you have done hiring, training and retaining fantastic customer service reps!! Here's just an added example at how the workers care. I passed 3 employees as I went to leave last night and all three told me to be careful outside with the wind. Such a simple thing but again it is this service that keeps me coming back. I think so many companies can learn from Menards in...
