I come to York Beach every summer for the past 30 years, even hosting my wedding in York. Every summer, my whole family and I shop at Bill and Bob's, buying a piece of jewelry for 5-6 family members every year, spending a fair amount of money each year. I recently purchased a necklace for myself for an upcoming wedding. When I got home, I could not find my bag, and have reason to think after taking an emergency phone call from my husband, had reason to think I put the bag down in the store. I immediately returned to the store-and the other 2 stores I had been in. Everyone in the other stores were super helpful, helping me look, offering to take my number, just being generally helpful. The staff at Bill and Bob's however could not have been less helpful and more rude. They acted as if I was a bother in trying to locate my necklace. No one offered to take my number in case it turned up. No one helped me look, and after explaining what happened, the final comment from the man I bought it from told me "well, no one has turned it in and we did not see any spare bags, so I guess that's a hard no."
So he is right-it is a hard NO. My family and I will continue to come to York Beach every year and none of us will EVER shop at this...
Read moreThe store owners are rude. I made an inquiry about being overcharged. The woman (possibly the owner) said “oh it’s the card charge to pay with a card” and turns to the older man and says “did you tell her?” and I said “no he didn’t! You should tell people there is a charge.” They then point to the sign in front of the register and said “well we have a sign”. A sign that was blocked by another paying patron when they rang me out. I said “it was blocked by the other patron and I was unable to even see it. Had I known, I would have paid cash.” We go to leave and she spoke rudely of us as I walked out. I poked my head back in and said “There is no need to be rude to paying customers but I surely won’t be back!” Nice array of items but I would never return to a shop who thinks being rude to paying customers is ok. It wasn’t our first visit there, but it will...
Read moreMy daughter and I entered the store, hoping to buy a few items. As we walked in, I was holding an iced coffee. A man, who was on his cordless phone, approached me and took the coffee from my hand without a word, then walked over to the counter and placed it there while still on the phone. I was unsure what had just happened and looked at the small sign on the pried-open door, which made it hard to see. I immediately apologized to the lovely lady that was at the front. My daughter chose to vacate the store after someone rudely and unnecessarily took my coffee from my hand without explanation. As someone from a long line of business owners, I find this disappointing - I get that rules are rules, but please consider having a more personal touch with your...
