Walking in, my friends and I vastly underestimated the challenge in an escape room. I thought it would be more conceptual, with puzzles the like of which are made for kids. Nope, not at all. It was more in line with things like ciphers and number puzzles. None of us are incredibly good at math or numbers, so it was more than a challenge.
I more or less chose the room for our group, "Eldritch Island". Our group was split in two, and the staff member, Jack, introduced us to the room and the mechanics of the escape room. After his introduction, a little video came on the screen, shedding some light into the background and setting of the room we were escaping from. Like I said, we were expecting something along the lines of physical or conceptual puzzles. The room is a toss-up between ciphers and math puzzles, each one leading into the other.
Should you be stuck, there are hints that are given by the staff members, which by design, aren't entirely meant to give you the answer, but are helpful in guiding you and having you focus on the current step of the puzzle instead of focusing on pieces of the puzzle that are not relevant to your current step.
All in all, my friends and I had an absolute blast! I've never done an escape room before, but I cannot recommend Escape Goats enough. We all had a wonderful time and definitely plan on coming back to try the...
Read moreTLDR; My group does escape rooms across Ohio and we decided to take the trip here and it was well worth it! I do see us returning to this location.
Room & Area: It was a well-made escape room (we did the saloon), and the facility was tidy. There is parking which is a +! Staff: The workers were especially kind, and accommodating and was able to squeeze us in super last minute! Although we got many many hints that were not requested (which was a bit frustrating) and unfortunately, a portion of our room was also not reset as the staff member working with us âforgot about the roomâ, but weâre chalking these both up to them being a potentially new staff. Price: The price of the escape room was extremely affordable ($30...
Read moreA DEFINITE must-go!! We have played two of their escape rooms so far: Al Caponeâs Speakeasy (party of 6) and Eldritch Island (party of 4). We solved The Speakeasy but sadly not the Island - which was a little more difficult but a lot of more fun. Be sure to wear glasses for any vision issues as you are solving in dimly lit areas. These rooms provide a great way for family and friends of all teen/adult age groups to bond and have some fun. And itâs a bargain compared to the other escape rooms weâve done throughout the States. Good to see this small-business addition to Zanesville! Side bare: Would love to see discounts provided for military, first responders, teachers, etc once it gets...
