The best thing about Walsall is the Arboretum. It starts on the edge of Walsall town centre by Morrison's and goes back all the way to the canal behind the Longhorn pub up the Sutton Rd with well maintained paths. It's got lovely trees, gardens, flowers, streams and Brooks with little bridges. A lake with swans, geese and ducks. A great central lawn area with a cafe and community hub. A really good play park for kids. Tennis courts, skate park, splash zone, basket ball court, outdoor gym and fitness apparatus, 2 separate free car parks and that's only in the first half. The second part of the park has the nature garden, the fairground /exhibition grounds space for events and behind this you have the untamed ish nature reserve with acres of green space, trees, woods, and wild lands for dog walking, hiking, cross country running and exploring. This bit is massive and you can get lost in nature.

I have lived within walking distance of the arboretum for many years and have enjoyed seeing its evolution. Today l was excited to be in the right place at the right time when a fisherman caught a 21lb beast and threw it back. I have heard of the 'big uns' in the lake and now l can confirm the rumours, there is at least one 'big un' in there. I also went to the art garden and saw some lovely works by local artist Elizabeth Whitehouse. During lockdown the Arboretum has become my walking ground and l have enjoyed actually seeing seasonal changes that l used to drive past. I have many memories of the Arboretum, from skating on the lake to falling in the stream. It is one of the places that l call home.

Absolutely great place to visit! I've been here so many times throughout the years and find it's the perfect place for a walk around the park, it's pretty big but you could just walk around the lake. Perfect for joggers as there are often running events om a Saturday morning and other running events for charity, great place for dog walkers and anyone with children as there is a big playground area with a splash pad that opens in the summer. The arboretum is a popular place and lovely to just go for a picnic with friends or family, there's never any need to worry about getting a patch of grass with a blanket or a bench as the areas are so big and plenty of hidden areas to explore!

A childhood favourite place of mine to visit. Was once home to the illuminations equal or better than Blackpools. Situated just out of the town centre this spans for miles and if you are a fan of walking and want a brake from the city or just visiting this is a beautiful place. Consisting of lakes, streams small brick bridges, wildlife, tea rooms, parks for children it really is a nice escape. It's worth noting however there are signs that say do not feed the ducks bread. Bring oats instead or feed is available from the cafe. This review will not do it justice with good photos.. But whether local or visiting I encourage you to support a beautiful and historical place.

Our first visit to Chasewater Country park, I would have given it 5 stars but the kissing gates lets it down i had to break my disability scooter down to get through them , Had there been signs saying kissing gates on the route we took we would have gone another way round to avoid them ,Its about time this sort of gate is outlawed and replaced with spring loaded normal gates . This is a stunning country park and the wild Red Deer are a sight to behold if you can spot them, A popular place for dog walkers and over the 3 mile route we took there were very few rubbish bins and there were pooh bags hanging from trees and along the path ways some dog owners need to take a long hard look at themselves , Get there early if you want to park your car it gets busy very fast and there is a small parking charge that you pay at the visitors centre , Blue badge holders park free but there are no allotted disabled parking bays , The only toilets are at the visitors centre and the two train station cafes , Would i personally go again probably.

I come here all the time I have autism and there's a spot I will always cycle up too as it helps clear the mind I have been in the main bit of Chacewater but I found it a little to busy for my liking but where I go it's always peaceful it's a massive area so u all have plenty to do some people clearly can't read as it says don't swim or paddle in the water but people still do u have people that come from all over its a clean area at times but visitors that are not from this area will chuck there rubbish on the floor with disregard to nature of u ignore them two small down sides u would definitely enjoy it over at Chacewater is there is so many different stuff u and ur family can do it's also dog friendly as so many people walk with there dogs which is cute to see u not only have that u also have the lil forest areas that are around also so no matter what if ur in to a busy life style or like me u like the peace and quite there's a spot for anyone I wish I listened to my brother sooner then I did as I just love it here

First time I've been here and what a find.there is plenty of parking and very reasonably priced.£3 for all-day or £1 for two hours.if you have kids there's a playground for them to enjoy while adults can sit on the benches and enjoy a drink or little snack from the cafe. There isn't a big choice of food at the café,little example toastie,panini,jacket potatoes but it does do Costa drinks.this is also where the public toilets are.Alittle further down and there is a place that does ice cream etc. I did see an old adventure golf there but not sure if was open but looks like it's in need of alot of TLC.i came for a walk around the water,this was so nice,the paths are wide enough for people to walk and also cyclists to pass.The walk takes you from water views to tree/wildlife and even a steam train,If it's running. On my visit I was lucky enough to see deer close up which was amazing.first time here but won't be the last.

Chasewater Country Park is a lovely place for an afternoon walk. Big enough to find quieter spaces yet small enough you can never really get lost. When fully open there are a lot of options, from playground to the heritage railway, water sports and sailing. Plenty of nature to be seen, water and woodland with wild birds and deer. At the main car park, where you may have to pay for parking depending on time of year, there are toilets, a cafeteria and kiosk. There are some small business units on site as well. Walks are varied, you can walk along the dam and various paths will take you around the reservoir and eventually back to the start. Walkers and cyclists use the paths. The railway goes about two thirds of the way round the park, with shops and refreshments available at the two main stations.

Took my daughter to Chasewater to cycle around, car park pay & display meters barely work.. took several attempts to purchase a ticket. Cycling is extremely limited around the water itself and a lot of ways are just dead ends or impassable on a push bike! We went to the cafe at the innovation center, there were 4 people behind the counter.. only one person being served in front of us.. we were completely ignored by the other 3 who were standing around doing absolutely nothing?? All of them definitely worked there as they were wearing polo shirts with the logo on.. they were utterly useless, rude, ignorant and unprofessional.. nobody even acknowledged us, so we walked out on principle. Can't say I would recommend Chasewater as it's very limited on what you can do if your not there for watersports. 👎👎👎
