We spent 2 nights in Jeon-Ju to soak up the this UNESCO historic village’s atmosphere. On a weekday…to avoid the crowds. It rained the 2nd day. So we were fortunate to catch the sunset on the 1st day. Our hotel overlooked the village. So beautiful. In the evening, it’s even prettier and romantic.
While I am disappointed with the commercialisation (lots of Hanbok rentals, loud pop music being played, restaurants, souvenir shops), I realised it is absolutely necessary to sustain the site. As it is, there are many shops that closed with signages for rental.
I personally prefer this to Bukcheon. It’s quaint and easier to walk (flat as opposed to hilly). Lots of historical and Confucian significance.
There’s even a 600 year old gingko tree. Many of the restaurants here are as reasonably priced as the ones outside the village.
Even for a non-history buff, I would gladly return to this village again.

Visiting Jeonju Hanok Village in the fall felt like stepping into a gentle dream.
The air was cool and crisp, the trees brushed with warm autumn colors, and everything moved at a slower, more peaceful pace.
We wore beautiful hanbok and took some of our favorite photos ever—the traditional houses and quiet alleys made the perfect backdrop.
It’s such a photogenic spot, especially for girls who love capturing soft, romantic moments.
Wandering through the village streets, we stumbled upon a cozy little restaurant and enjoyed a warm bowl of Jeonju-style bibimbap.
It was comforting and full of flavor, just like the village itself—rich in tradition, yet so welcoming.
For any girl planning a trip to Korea, Jeonju is definitely a must-visit—perfect for pretty photos, slow walks, and sweet memories that linger long after you leave.

Jeonju Hanok Village was formed when Koreans gathered in opposition to the influx of Japanese residents during the Japanese colonial period. Today, it stands as a cultural heartland, home to over 700 beautifully preserved traditional Korean houses known as hanok. The village is filled with charming shops, cozy cafes, restaurants offering authentic Korean cuisine, and a variety of art galleries. When night falls and soft lights illuminate the quiet alleyways, walking through them feels like embarking on a journey back in time to the Joseon Dynasty. The peaceful, nostalgic atmosphere blends past and present, creating a uniquely romantic experience.

I really enjoy Jeonju and this Hanok village area is the heart and soul of the city. There are many great stores and the food is amazing. It just has a great vibe. There is lots to see for kids as well. There are historical sites like the Portrait Museum which was very worthwhile to see, where you can see it is literally the birthplace of the Joseon dynasty. Definitely visit the palace grounds. If you like theatrical food performances, visit King Bibim at Bibim Sori. There is also a beautiful catholic church to see which tells about the many Korean saints who have died over the years as martyrs.

I introduce a museum in Gunsan. This place is shows the times 100 years ago. You can see the Old Town from here and experience the independence struggles
What i recommend is the modern life room. You can see old things like go-mu-sin and street shops.
Gunsan has lost to Japan because of its wide port and rice production area. Therefore, you can see the citizens who resisted this.
Gunsan is the place where many independence struggles took place. I recommend it to people who are interested in history. Also, going with my grandmother will be a good memory.

"The people who forgot the history has no future" seems to be the motto of this museum.
Nice five-story museum(but only 3 stories are for museum) that covers from the stone age to modern days of Gunsan. Most items(not all) were explained in English so foreigners also can read and learn about the history of the city.
On the third floor, there was an exhibition about Donghak movement where the peasants gathered and fought against corrupted government and the Japanese.

It was pretty late when I visited the museum. On December this museum closed until 18.00. The most interesting is the replice of 1930~ies Korea during Japan occupation. The ticket fare is ₩ 3.000 to visit all site museum which located in different building on the same area (around 5 minutes walks each). I didn't get chance to visit other museum as it already closing time. Only the main museum.

A majority of the displays are transcribed in english. (If not, a translator app and free WIFI will help!). The staff were very polite, and helped guide me through signing in. My Korean is a max of 10 words right now, so I can't stress how nice they are. All the exhibits are well lit, well layed out and easy to follow.

If you're interested in history then this is the place to be. Huge, cool, museum building explaining Gunsan's past. Excellent quality interpretation for visitors. Great value as you get to visit 4 or 5 places on one site. Highly recommend.

I’d like to introduce this place based on my experience of going to Gwanghalluwon. It is located in Namwon, in Jeollabukdo. It is famous as a place where Lee Do-ryeong and chun-hyang met and fell in love during Joseon Dynasty. So every year from May 4th to May 8th , there is a small musical called Chun-hyang Jeon and I found it fun and touching.
Tickets for Gwanghalluwon are very cheap. Tickets for adult are 3.000won, It is 2,000won for teenagers and 1,500won for children
You can experience various things here. First of all, there are many reservoirs, and there are so many big carp living here. You can feed the carp here. It’s impressive that everytime you feed the carp, everyone is flocking to feed. Second, you can see a small musical called chunhyang-jeon here. This chunhyang-jeon is very interesting because of the love story of two people during the joseon Dynasty. I strongly recommend a visit to Gwanghalluwon.

A delightful garden park depicting ancient times and the tale of 2 lovers (Korean Romeo n Juliet). Park is well maintained with many hanook style architectures - homes, ponds, pavilions, halls, bridges, etc. Some of the exhibits also have figurines in traditional costumes denoting life in the past. Quite a large park n the ambience here is peaceful n quiet- great for the family! Expect to spend about 2 hours plus to sight see the entire area. There are some translations (English) available but not for all exhibits. Brochures etc are in Hangul. The pavilion architecture is especially worth a closer look if one is into intricate woodwork n carving. The surrounding trees (willows etc) and other flowers lend a peaceful air to this park! Entrance fees are charged but it’s a reasonable price to pay for a nice stroll in such a park.

MANO CMANO C
It was the setting for the classic Korean novel Chunhyangjeon.
It is now a garden and a pleasant place to take a stroll, and you can see Ohjakgyo, Gwanghanru, and Wolmaejip.
It was still early spring, so there were no flowers in bloom. The pond was home to a flock of monkey birds, which you don't often see, and some very large carp were swimming around.
Admission is free after 6pm, and the nighttime lighting is amazing, so I recommend visiting at this time.

Visited Gwanghanruwon Garden in autumn. Nestled in the charming city of Namwon, this garden offers an idyllic escape, especially during the fall season with fall colors scattered around the compound. The trees were shades of red and orange, while the ginkgo trees added splashes of golden yellow. The combination of these vivid hues, set against the backdrop of traditional Korean architecture, made the garden feel like a living painting.
