you come to panda hot pot for the experience rather than the food, but you will revisit when you realise that pricing (about $30-50pp depending on how much you order) is appropriate for such a grand venue. It’s a good place for celebrations and large family gatherings if everyone doesn’t mind sharing a large hot pot. Reservations are recommended. My friend worked pretty hard to secure a coveted 7:30pm dinner slot. It seems easier if you choose the 9pm slot (the queues aren’t as long and you might be able to take nice uninterrupted pictures). We were fortunate enough to snag a private room. Service is generally good - you press a button and someone will attend to you. The tomato and mild Szechuan soup base were both flavourful. I’ve very faint memories of the actual food, but I recall the slight inconvenience of getting up to place your meat in and reminding yourself to take it after a couple of minutes. But such is the experience of having hotpot when you do not have individual pots. There’s a good variety of meat and veggies to suit everyone’s preferences. I even enjoyed simple things like mushroom YUM. As with other establishments, you can choose from a wide range of condiments to make your own dipping sauce. This can be confusing but fun after a few experiments. I personally like garlic, spring onion, sesame and a bit of hoisin sauce in mine. The mince meat balls and lamb slices being especially delicious. Be warned, some marinated meat (especially the one that comes in the chef special box) is very spicy. Ultimately, it’s not the best hotpot meal I’ve ever had (the best is honestly at home when you can put your legs up haha), but certainly one of the most memorable. I would personally come back, potentially on a weekday when the queue isn’t as long or if tourists visit.

@pandahotpot.aus 📍Carlton & Carnegie 🧧Chinese New Year Feast Panda Hot Pot is located in Carlton and Carnegie, offering a unique and immersive dining experience that transports you to Ancient China. The venue boasts a martial arts-themed interior, complete with a floating dragon suspended from the ceiling. 🐉 The menu is customisable, allowing you to choose from a variety of soup bases, dipping sauces and over 100 premium hot pot dishes. The extra mild chilli soup is spicy but flavorful, while the pork bone broth has a distinct porky taste. The snowflake beef and pork meatballs were my favourite from the selection. The cocktails were very pricy at almost $25, I found them disappointing. The venue is clean and well-maintained, offering good quality products. The staff are attentive and friendly although more explanation of the hot pot cooking process would have been appreciated, especially for first-time visitors. There is a sauce making station and a self serve fro-yo machine for dessert! Panda Hot Pot also provides nightly performances, including Face Changing (Bian Lian) Shows, Music Performances (Gu Zheng & Lute), Chinese Traditional Dance, and family-friendly Panda Shows. These performances add to the memorable experience and showcase the restaurant's commitment to creating a unique atmosphere. 🎭 Although we visited on a set menu for Chinese New Year (very delayed post I know), we were very impressed and would definitely return for another visit. Make a booking, as I’m sure you have seen the lines running right down Victoria Street!

Indeed the restaurant deco and ambience win everyone hearts. As a frequent hotpot lover in Singapore. I do have some standards bases on the places I went in Sg/Malaysia. This chain has outlets Malaysia too. Food Selection was way more than I have seen before at other franchises/outlet. Fresh and portion are reasonable for the pricing in Melbourne Atmosphere, literally you feel you are in an ancient inn next to 500 yrs ago. Ventilation was good as their huge entrance was fully opened. Service Their service crew are generally very young which is good and many ladies are quite pretty. From the cashier to the waitress and to the cashier. I was impressed with that standards. Alas, although it is a restaurant it felt like a buffet service. Things I expected to be on the table first but was not. Such as spoon and chopsticks. Chopsticks was at the corner and for spoons you have to ask for it. I mean is a hotpot, we do have to drink the soup but maybe they expect us to drink from the bowl. The bowl looks like those ancient alcohol bowl which allow you to drink direct from it. So when we ask for blows, they say we have to take it from the condiment counter. The condiment counter was at 1st floor while our table was on the 2nd floor. This make me not wanting to take sauces and those 小料。 The wagyu meat was served on a plate loaded with ice so as to keep it fresh. The plate was so small that when the ice melted, the water drip.past the table and onto my guest leg. She felt like she was eating on a river. Not bad for a new ambience also. I ask for a coke, it came in just a bottle. No glass, no ice, no whatsoever. With a tight turn around time and guests have to leave within 2hr..having these issues wun help. Overall i would go again for the food selection. But I would stay at 1st floor.

Overall rating: 5/5 What a fun adventure at Panda Hot Pot, where it feels like you’re reliving as an ancient king/queen in the Chinese Dynasty. Decor is full blown to the very end of the restaurant, with their toilet designed with a Chinese palace theme. They put every effort into the performances with their meat platters. Love their self-serving dipping station, which was easy to read and spoon in. Very aromatic too! Staff absolute legends. We got some amazingly delicious fried milk bread on the house and gosh I would pay for more if I had more room in my stomach. The inside was oozing of delicious thickened milk which had the perfect amount of sweetness. Food absolute spice! Despite ordering mild spice, it was too addicting to not eat. Probably the best soup broth I’ve ever had. Ox tongue was delicious to eat, and even more when dipping into the XO sauce sesame dip. My favourite would probably be their treasure box with the marinated meat skewers which was full of flavour. Wish we could give more meat as every unit of meat item we ordered had little portions. Food: 5/5 Value: 3/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 5/5

Panda Hot Pot is an amazing place to woo your friends and family with their impressive interior design that really adds to your dining experience coupled with amazing food and hospitality. They were very attentive from the moment we walked in, with our wonderful waitress, Cassie, guiding our table through the entire dining experience. My friends who wore white were even offered some red aprons so that they could keep clean. Despite how busy the place was, Cassie would often come back to refill our water jugs and tell us how long to cook our meats for. Our group has never been to a hot pot place so this was very helpful and definitely made the dining experience less stressful. The food had great portions for our table of four people and we definitely over-ordered. It was recommended that we choose a broth first as those take a while to heat up, so we went with a Pork bone & Mushroom broth which are excellent choices for people who don't want anything too spicy! Panda Hot Pot does not disappoint. You leave feeling very full. Just be careful you don't over-order as they don't allow split card payments either.
