Sorry, but that was genuinely the worst Melbourne food & wine event we've ever been to. Having paid $153 per head back in January we were relegated to the front bar because they'd overbooked their dining room. For this price, I wouldn't expect to be fetching my own drinks from the bar because they forgot to serve us. For $153 per head, I also didn't expect to be served corn chips from a packet with unseasoned salsa, or dry, cracked la tortilla tortillas that had clearly been left open in the kitchen to dry out. & Seriously, 1/8th of a lime for 4 oysters? What's that going to do for anyone? I guess at this price tostadas not quite 3 fingers wide is considered sophisticated 🤷 The dish of the night, goat birria, was shown in event advertising on the bone, but the small pile on the plate was barely enough to fill 2 tortillas. Again, it just looked like they'd overbooked and didn't have enough for everyone in the room. They even tried to chef up the flan, serving it set in a bowl instead of turned out on a plate, with passionfruit that reminded me of mums pav more than the dark caramel I associate with abuellas best flan. The only saving grace having waited 1.5 hours for the "main", was that they bumped our booking back an hour, so we at least weren't waiting as long as others who'd arrived earlier. Compare the photos of the night with one I've taken from the event site (there's no mistaking which is which) & tell me, do you think that you delivered a $150 per person event? This is everything I hate about Melbourne's dining scene. Over promise, and under deliver, all at a price that'll make you weep like you did at the last RBA announcement

Great place for lunch with friends! Very glad that we had a booking here as we could see how busy it was for the roast on Sundays! Whilst waiting for all our party to arrive (they were looking for parking) the staff took our drink orders and didn’t try to rush us in any way to order food - which we were grateful for. When the last of our party arrived it was 3 orders for the Roast of the Day (which was Pork) with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes & vegetables and one order of the Beer Battered Fish with mushy peas, iceberg lettuce & fries. The roast was cooked well (I opted for no potatoes on mine) and even though pork is not my preferred roast meat I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Yorkshire pudding was delicious and as always came in handy to soak up the gravy at the end. The fish was tasty and better than first viewed and the wedge salad was surprisingly good. When we finished we were again allowed to take our time. We eventually migrated to the front bar where they had a fireplace crackling away. The atmosphere in both locations was definitely relaxed and we felt this was the standard here. The only downside was the parking - with street parking being extremely hard to come by - so maybe grab an Uber or be prepared to park a few blocks away.

Having visited London a few times and fallen in love with its pub culture, I knew I had to check out the local scene in Australia while I was there for my sister’s wedding. One day, with no wedding plans scheduled, we decided to explore. We were staying in St. Kilda and made our way to the Docklands. While wandering around, we stumbled upon The Lincoln pub. We arrived a bit early for dinner, so we grabbed a bench outside, ordered some drinks and snacks, and soaked in the relaxed vibe. Soon, more family joined us, turning it into an impromptu mini-reunion. I was pretty hungry, so I had to try the fish and chips—just to compare them with the ones I’d had in England. And wow, they did not disappoint! Generous portions and perfectly crispy, they definitely held their own. As the workday ended, the place filled up. A group of local women sat next to us and, amused by our American accents, struck up a conversation. What followed was a fun, laughter-filled evening of shared stories, great food, and warm hospitality. It was the perfect Aussie welcome—and a reminder that the best travel memories are often unplanned.

Great pub with some good beers and incredibly expensive food and tiny dishes. Roast lamb is $85. Just let that sink in. Eighty-five dollars. T Bone is $60. There are cheaper meals but they don't come with any sides, and there are very few sides so you'll probably end up ordering another dish. Make sure to bring your goldcard. There is a steak for $36 that is just a steak with some sauces. No vegies or salad or anything. They don't serve potatoes or spinach or even a char-grilled asparagus spear. You can't order beans, peas, brocolli or anything green but maybe some sherry-glazed carrots for $12? The $42 steak will get you chips and roquette. Not a salad note, just roquette. I'm sure the steaks are great, I just couldn't do it. To spend that much and not get a balanced meal is crazy to me. I got the sausages and mash for a reasonable $24. Just what it says - 2 sausages, mash and a teaspoonful of sugary onion. No sauce, no greens. The sausages were inedible. I'm sure that a lot of people might like them but they had that kind of gamey, off, rotten-meat flavour that I couldn't stomach. Mash was fine. The vegetarian meals are excellent! Roast Cauli is a banger and Zucchini Flowers were amazing. If you ordered veg and got a few small plates it'd be a bit cheaper and you'd get a better meal, but I'd probably still be hungry. Maybe I don't understand dining any more? It's a pub but you can't get meat and veg on the same plate? It's all there on the menu and the execution is excellent so if money is no obstacle, just order a ton of plates and enjoy. For me, there's plenty of places where you can get a full meal done well...
