Quite possibly the best moussaka you will ever have in your life. I don’t know what else I can say. Everything else we ordered was incredibly delicious too, but their moussaka (a family recipe) absolutely stole the show. We’re now planning how to fit this place in again before we leave tomorrow, but don’t you worry, we will. **UPDATE Moussaka Round 2:** As promised, we adjusted our schedule to ensure we came back the very next night for what some have called the GOAT of moussakas. I wised up and ordered two this time since I only got a mere sampling of yesterday’s single order which was thoroughly enjoyed by my beautiful wife :) Again, this 2nd round of moussaka was absolutely delicious! Took better pics this time to showcase the luscious layering of flavours with just the right balance of nutmeg and spices. It was vegetarian too and as a meat eater myself, I didn’t even notice which speaks to how good this moussaka really is. Berat is a beautiful UNESCO heritage site worth visiting all on its own, but I would have come here just for the moussaka alone; it’s just that damn good.

Amazing restaurant and wonderful hospitality! We stayed in Berat for two nights and visited this restaurant four times - twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. The food was delicious. The photo I've attached is the chicken soup which was very tasty! At each meal we received free bread which was freshly cooked so it was lovely and warm. It was evident most, if not everything, in the restaurant was homemade. Also, when we went to leave after a meal the owners of the shop gave us free fruit. We felt very looked after and their Albanian hospitality was lovely to experience. Extra story which I feel deserved to be posted publicly... When we went to leave the castle grounds to travel to Berat we asked about where to get a taxi. After a bit of figuring out we realised the owners of the restaurant had organised a friend to pick us up in their car and take us to the bus station. Another very kind bit of hospitality we were very grateful and awed to experience.

Lovely place with great, local food 🥰 We tried Fergese, musaka, white cheese appetizer, chicken with rice and lamb with salad. The only thing we wouldn’t order again is the chicken&rice, it was not bad, but too “normal”. All the rest was really good 🫶🏼 We tried cold fergese before in different restaurant and didn’t really like it, here we asked for a second portion, it was sooo nice. We also had bad experiences with Tavë Kosi lamb&yogurt casserole, and now looking at pictures of temi version of it I would definitely try it again. As to drinks - Wine carafes (0.5l - 600 leki) are a great option, but we definitely recommend to take the red one :) Thank you for that lovely meal and for being such a nice people - many hugs for you both who we had a chance to meet and for your daughters - all the best for all the family 🫶🏼

SUPER!!! I usually do not rate restaurants easily with a five star but this little cute restaurant up in the berat castle offers delicious homemade food cooked by Mum 🤗 our waiter the daughter speaks decent English and offered us a Albanian lunch experience including stuffed pepper and pumpkin (zucchini) with a side Greek salad, a drink which is a mix of yogurt and water and a piece of self-made hazelnut cake with honey and cinnamon. The food was DELICIOUS and the family who owns the restaurant is stunning friendly and warm welcoming their guests. Never have experienced any kind of hospitality being so friendly. Prices are fair and it’s not overpriced even it’s in a touristic place (see picture). Anyone who goes up to the castle should stop by the restaurant and have a break by enjoying traditional Albanian food 🥰

Well, I went to this place since it had 5 stars from ALL reviewers. I can definitely understand why. The food was great, especially the mousaka with potatoes. Beer was overpriced at 200 leke (compared to 100 in a regular bar), but that is understandable since the place is located inside the castle. Food prices reflected quality, not cheap, but affordable. Good value for money! The food is prepared by a lady and the waiter is, I think, her daughter (who speaks good English and the menu is in both English and Albanian). Very cozy atmosphere, I loved it. When I left I got three nectarines "on the house", a very nice touch of Albanian hospitality. Definitely recommending!

This is the first time I write a review because this place deserves it so much. I‘ve literally just gotten back from a lovely dinner there on my own. It‘s a small restaurant run by (I think) a family. The girls waitressing are the absolute sweetest and spread such warmth. They spoke English super well which was helpful. The stuffed aubergines I had were a dream. The restaurant is located in a small valley leading to the castle and my absolute highlight so far. When you go in you basically enter the kitchen where you can see with how much love this place is run. Thank you for such a lovely evening!
