El Burladero was another fantastic recommendation from our hotel, and we were so glad we followed their advice. Conveniently located within walking distance, it was the perfect place for a special dinner during our stay in Buenos Aires.
From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the elegant and upscale atmosphere. The interior has a very classy and refined feel, yet it remains warm and welcoming. It is the kind of restaurant where every detail feels thoughtfully considered, creating an environment that is both sophisticated and comfortable.
We had heard that El Burladero is known for their paella, so we knew that was what we wanted to try. We ordered it for the four of us—two adults and two kids—and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. One of the highlights was that the paella was served table side, which made the meal feel even more special. The server brought out the pan and carefully plated each portion for us, adding a level of elegance and presentation that really stood out.
The paella itself was absolutely delicious. The seafood was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, the rice had excellent texture and flavor, and the seasoning was spot on. Every bite was rich, savory, and satisfying. It was a generous portion, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
In addition to the outstanding food, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the meal. They made sure we felt well taken care of without being intrusive, and their knowledge of the menu was very helpful.
Overall, El Burladero exceeded our expectations and delivered a truly memorable dining experience. Between the beautiful setting, the table-side presentation, the fantastic food, and the top-tier service, it was a meal we will not forget. We would happily return on a future visit and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an upscale yet approachable dining option in...
Read moreA bright, cheery and modern restaurant with a very friendly and attentive staff. Jonathan, our personable waiter with a terrific sense of humor, spoke excellent English, which prevented us from torturing the Spanish language unnecessarily. You're greeted with a small glass of complimentary cider or beer, and gaspacho. We four diners had the seafood and chicken paella for four as our entree and there was plenty left over to take home. It was presented beautifully and tasted even better than it looked. The kitchen even put the mussels on the side since one person in our party is allergic to them. As an appetizer we had the squid fritters on aioli. Again, beautifully presented, with a good contrast between the crunchy exterior and the softer interior of cooked and chopped squid. Drinks were cocktails: margaritas and a whiskey sour, and a malbec, all very much enjoyed. Jonathan opened a new bottle for two pours of the malbec, which was one of the better ones we've had in BA. Kicking myself for not noting its name. Desserts were churros and a chocolate volcano cake with vanilla ice cream of tremendous creaminess and flavor. Once again, excellent choices. Complimentary limocello ended the evening. Bottom line, a superior dining experience for $127 US. This restaurant would be outstanding...
Read moreWonderful Spanish restaurant. Degustacion de tapas and Langostinos a la plancha would have been enough on its own for the two of us. But we didn’t want to miss out on the oxtail dish.
And we are so glad. The best raba we’ve ever had, perfectly braised with a thick red wine sauce, on top of super buttery mashed potatoes with a touch of garlic.
The bread basket (3 types) is so generous, we had to tell ourselves to stop eating it. Definitely bread similar to Spain, not Argentina.
I only wish the grilled shrimp (amazing flavor, similar to gulf shrimp in New Orleans) had head and tail on, especially for the price.
Add in 2 glasses of beer for him and 2 glasses of red wine for me… it came out to ARS 123,000 (USD$123 in Dec 2024). Expensive, but I’d do it again.
One last bit: the hostess seemed to be mad at us when we arrived on time for our reservation, right when they opened for lunch. Like a metaphorical eyeroll and heavy sigh that she kept inside, but couldn’t completely control. It felt very unwelcoming. But our first server, Guillermo, cancelled her attitude out, because he was the most gregarious server we’ve had in our 2 trips to Argentina. If/when we make a 3rd trip here, El Burladero will be a...
