I was pleasantly surprised by our lunch visit to La Ventana. We visited as part of a Celebrity cruise excursion that included a city tour and drop off at the airport. I was surprised how extensive the show is. Even if you're not a fan of the accordion, you're going to be impressed by the band players. And yeah, 3 employees accordion players is kind of a shock. The singing and dancing were really impressive and went on for a long time. I believe we were there 2.5 hours. The wait service was fantastic, but not all servers spoke English very well. Your choices are a really thick piece of beef. Some thought it was a little dry, others were quite impressed. There's also a chicken choice that many enjoyed. As a vegetarian, I had the pasta with marinara. If you're not vegan, they also bring you a big bowl of freshly shredded cheese. You have an appetizer choice of a meat empanada or a mozzarella and tomato caprese. It is dressed, but there is also balsamic and olive oil on the table if you want more or to dip your bread into. You also choose between flan or ice cream. The food was great, the endless bottles of included Malbec were good. You can also order white wine or things like Diet Coke. The waiters were so professional and out of 200+ attendees, no one tipped at all. I felt bad about that. This is a great choice for a meal and tango show when visiting...
Read moreMeh. I've been living in BA for two years and have attended a few tango shows. Decided, after much recommendation, to give La Ventana a shot. I'm slightly disappointed.
The positive: the dancers are great, very skilled. The musicians are superb. The driver that picked/dropped us off was beyond nice and upon us dropping the keys in the bus he was able to come back and have them delivered.
The bad: the show's structure is a bit off, for my taste. The whole folklore music thing was too long. The fact that the shows happens at the same place where people where having dinner, is annoying. Having waiters go back and forth during the entire night picking up dessert plates and whatnot really distracts from the show. For me when they decided to sing "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" was when they really lost points. I mean, c'mon. The wine is the worst cheap wine I have tasted. Pure vinegar. The staff that greeted us was not as nice as they could have been.
Overall I would not recommend and would definitely not go again. I paid for the show only (70USD) and for the same price you have better options such as El Viejo Almacen (where the atmosphere is much more inviting and you are able to enjoy the...
Read moreFirst off, the driver got us there late so we missed 30 minutes of our paid for Tango lesson. Then we get seated for dinner and had to ask for drinks 3 times and still had to wait an additional 20 minutes to receive them. Then after 30 minutes of ordering our food they said they had a computer glitch and lost our order. Finally our dinner came and the sirloin steak tasted like Golden Corral steak (for non Americans that’s not a good comparison). Then the Tango show…. They barely did Tango and sang songs 60% of the time. Then to add insult to injury. When I got the bill and paid it. The waiter tried to say I shorted them 200 Argentina pesos. I had to literally county the money and compare it to the bill and only then they understood I didn’t short them. Never have I ever been so insulted. This has to be the worst service/experience I have ever had in my whole life. We paid $300 US dollars for VIP experience and we had to literally beg for drinks and pour our own water. MCDonalds does a better job than...
