As a connoisseur of fine meats, my dining experience at Happening, an Argentinean Parrilla, was exceptionally satisfying. The ribeye steak was the highlight of the meal, showcasing the culinary expertise of the establishment. Perfectly cooked to medium rare, the steak was succulently juicy, with a rich, meaty flavor that was subtly enhanced by a hint of smokiness.
Interestingly, we opted for an Argentinean Sauvignon Blanc from Costa y Pampa, a choice that might seem unconventional with steak. While not the traditional pairing, this white wine, with its fruity undertones and a New Zealand-esque character, offered a refreshing contrast to the rich flavors of the ribeye, making for a unique and enjoyable dining experience.
The prices at Happening are about 50% higher than the average Buenos Aires restaurant, but the quality of the food and the overall dining experience justify the expense. It's evident that you're paying for premium quality.
The restaurant is a popular spot among business professionals, and in our casual attire, we felt slightly underdressed. The service was both engaging and helpful, enhancing our overall experience.
In summary, Happening offers a memorable dining experience for meat lovers in Buenos Aires. The combination of expertly prepared meats, a great wine selection, and attentive service makes it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a sophisticated...
Read moreWe booked this restaurant for our first night in BA and were most definitely impressed! We were given an outdoor table overlooking the port, which was so chilled as we sat and watched the people strolling by on a balmy night with a delicious glass of Malbec. The waiter service was as best as we have had anywhere on our travels - attentive and charming despite our language differences! The food portions were HUGE and and absolutely delicious! Well cooked, hot and well presented. The atmosphere is just perfect as no loud music like other nearby eateries, rattan style sofas with cushions and yucca plants offering discretion from the passers by. We would most certainly return here to eat and we are known for being “particular” over eateries! Everything couldn’t have been more perfect! Highly recommend our food choices of - burrata, wood oven lamb cutlets, short ribs and potatoes...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the service is decent enough, the staff are friendly, the establishment is quite nice. But the second I received the bread basket I knew that there were going to be problems, the bread was stale and of poor quality. The steak was fine and my partners meal was fine but nothing out of this world, The issue I had was that when they brought me the 'kosher salt'' out of a plate, it ended up being a mixture between sugar and marine salt. for some reason my steak kept tasting sweet. right, then I realized that it was because of the sugar. The waiter took it back without being that apologetic. I got the bill and there were no deductions from their mayor mistake not even a free coffee , I got charged like 500 for service? WTF? 495 for a cold subpar Provoleta? It makes no sense going back, and I wouldn't recommend this...
