The best and most authentic Carbonara in Buenos Aires! And, in general, definitely one of the most authentic all around Italian restaurant and store where to buy home made pastas, cold cuts, cheese and much more. As an Italian, I very rarely recommend Italian restaurants abroad, but I can wholeheartedly recommend La Alacena, where it feels like being back in Italy, from the creamy basil pesto, to the pasta being cooked perfectly al dente to the lovely burratina appetizer. Just one note: portion sizes are also "Italian" as opposed to "Argentinian". That means that they are not measly at all, but not huge as in many Argentinian restaurants, so you are unlikely to be full after a single dish. As prices are very reasonable, this is a good thing, as it gives you the chance to try both an appetizer and a main (or a dessert). Highly recommended, especially if you crave real, traditional...

I absolutely love this place! I was introduced to this cute little pasta shop by a friend. We went for brunch. They are only open for lunch/brunch (until 4pm) and no dinner. We went for their brunch special, which gave you and a friend a small taste of different dishes, but I was absolutely floored by the pasta dish. It was small but the noodles were fresh and the pasta sauce was the best I've had (in Buenos Aires, not the world). We also tried the Fusilli al Bronzo that came with pesto sauce and tomato sauce and I was incredibly impressed with how delicious the dish was. I will be visiting this place one more time before my travels in BA...
