We were wandering around Puerto Madero on a very warm spring day so we were eager to find a place to sit down for lunch and a beverage. We picked Lobe Café because the outdoor seating looked nice but mainly because it was too early for the food trucks nearby. It was around noon.
I ordered spaghetti primavera and my husband had sandwich. We both had a pop. When my plate came, it was linguini instead of spaghetti which was fine with me although it wasn’t really what it said on the menu. The sauce was light and simple and that was what I was looking for - something hearty in texture with something light in flavour.
What turned me off slightly off was the tip request at the end. Instead of allowing patrons who feel like leaving a tip to do that in cash even thought the bill would be paid on credit cards (as most do and what we have been doing), the waitress told us the bill did not include service and asked whether we want add 15% or 20% to the bill even though the customary tip is 10%. I said 15% at the end since the additional 5% would be less than CAD 2 for us anyway.
It is good location to people watch seated outside but you will also have to prepare for occasional walkers-by...
Read moreCute spot! The atmosphere is fantastic—decor with red color and also small fresh flowers in the vases. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The menu has a great variety, but what was catching my attention- lots of coffees and delicious desserts. I tried the lemon pie, which cost 12,000, and let me tell you—it was worth every coin❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Just perfect: not overly sweet, with a lemon filling and a yummy merengue. Smooth texture. Just right.
Their coffee also great! Americano 10/10
Now, as much as I loved everything about this place, my last stop—unfortunately—was the restroom. I wish I hadn’t gone, as it left a disappointing final impression. While it was relatively clean, it felt unkempt and didn’t match the café’s otherwise impeccable vibe. I kept thinking how much better it would be if they gave it a little renovation, perhaps in the same red tones as the rest of the café. It wouldn’t take much to fix it up, and it would make such a difference.
Overall, place is amazing, and I’ll definitely want to come back for the pistachio cake 😍❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍 and coffee ☕️ . But I really hope they give some attention to...
Read moreLobo Cafe Puerto Madero Puerto Madero is a lovely area to stroll around on a weekend morning, you can walk along the water and people are jogging or having some coffee and breakfast. Our friends like to have breakfast at this café and it has lovely outdoor seating next to the water. The service was pleasant. I had the Croque Madame, which was OK, but the ratio of bread to other ingredients was too high, too much bread. My husband had the toast with cheese and figs and honey and enjoyed it but felt it could be better. Our friends each had avocado toast, which is something they regularly enjoy, and they like it there. The coffee was unexceptional but satisfactory to accompany some...
