So I walk in at 7.30, which by Argentinian standards is super early. I request a table for one, which was met with a bit of a weird look and then the two guys in a suit at the door show me a table by a pillar right next to to door. Now I am facing their greeting area and there are at least 4 rather intimidating "greeters"/waiters standing there at any given time, with nothing much to do because the place is pretty empty at this time. I order Caprese Salad and the Spinach Ricotta Ravioli at which point the waiter should have warned me of their ginormous portion sizes. The food is far more expensive than the average cost of food in Buenos Aires but I didn't think too much of it since this restaurant is in this hoity toity area across from the Four Seasons Hotel. The waiter comes out with a giant plate of Caprese salad that could have fed four people. I finish about 1/3 of it and request him to pack up the rest. Then the ravioli arrives, which could also easily feed two people. Now I am sitting there trying to eat but the entire time the four guys in the suits are standing 2 meters away from me facing me. I don't think I have ever felt this uncomfortable in a restaurant. By the way, both the Caprese and the Ravioli are just of mediocre quality. Had I eaten the food with closed eyes it might as well have been from Sbarros. After reluctantly swallowing half of the Ravioli I request them to pack up the rest and get me the bill. A hefty 1,200+ real later they give me a giant styrofoam box which could have contained twice as much food as I had asked them to pack. Once I got to my hotel and opened to box to check for leaks, I noticed there is NO ravioli! They just packed the...
Read moreOur experience at Piegari was simply outstanding. The atmosphere was elegant and friendly. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and attentive throughout our experience from the hostess that seated us to the waiter, Marcelo, who took outstanding care of us throughout our dining experience. We ordered the roasted peppers, papas en la crema and the Ojo de Bife (rib eye steak - about 1+ inches thick without the bone). We also ordered a bottle of the local white, Torrontes, by Piattelli vineyards. Both my wife and I commented to each other and to Marcelo, our waiter, it was the best steak and entire meal we have ever eaten, hands down, and we are a 70 year old couple who love steak!! If anyone is visiting Buenos Aires and would like an excellent meal, great ambiance and the perfect level of attention, go to Piegari Carnes, ask for Marcelo, order their ribeye and you won't be disappointed!! Well done Piegari...
Read moreProbably one of the best steaks I have ever had, bar none. Nice welcome glass of champagne when I arrived. I was alone and they could not have been nicer. The steak was exquisite! The service was good except my server, Luis. He does not know how to pour a glass of wine. He wouldn’t touch my bottle and neither did I. I forced his hand by waiting him out but after the taste and then initial pour he did not even return... even to find out if I was enjoying my steak. Sadly he will get the message via his tip. Don’t blame the restaurant for one or two bad waiters. He walked past my table with a hand signal to see if I was done. I refused to respond until he came to ask. He will ( hopefully ) learn one day. The restaurant was amazing, the gentleman that greeted me could not have been kinder. It was an amazing meal......
