Unfortunately our experience was not very good. We arrived the restaurant with a big sign outside saying promotion de centolla, for 28.000 with sides. When we came inside they told us that this was not the case and the promotion was a paella. So we agreed on buying a midsized king crab, which they elected and brought to the table. I asked twice if this was actually a midsize one because it seemed rather small. As I work in the fishing industry I knew that it was a smaller one and just wanted to test their honesty, they denied and sold us a rather small one for a medium price. Just a couple of minutes another group entered the restaurant, they came for the same promotion and when they insisted on the promotion, they finally got a frozen king crab for the promotional price. All in all the King crab was fine, although it's not difficult to cook a crab. The sides were not recommendable, deep frozen industrial fries without seasoning and mashed potatoes produced in the poorest way, by potato power and also lacking seasoning. In the end we paid just over 40.000 pesos for a rather disappointing experience that should have only cost us round about 30.000. When we left the restaurant, the sign was turned around and you could not see the offer anymore, anyways, their scam worked on two groups. As a credential, I work as a food critic and I am specialised in seafood, and I must admit, this was a bad experience, not necessarily because of the food, but because of the scam. I am very curios for the response of the restaurant, as we have recorded and filmed everything for my...
Read moreI visited Ushuaia hoping to savor their renowned Centolla (King Crab) experience, though priced significantly higher at $75-85. Despite the anticipation, the evening fell short. Welcomed by a friendly but inexperienced waitress, our dining experience was marred by an arrogant senior server who seemed to make the new waitress's training a nightmare. The senior waitress mistakenly offered a side dish, only to later inform us it incurred an extra charge, denying her previous statement and blaming the new staff.
Our request for mashed potatoes, a replacement side dish, went unfulfilled, and despite multiple reminders, there was no apologetic response. The crab arrived without guidance on opening it, accompanied only by basic scissors and lacking extra napkins. The restaurant, with ample seating available, displayed a lack of attentiveness. When settling the bill, the senior waitress disregarded the dish issue, and her demeanor suggested an annoyance with our presence. In conclusion, the high cost did not justify a bland boiled crab lacking seasoning or accompanying dips ( which it was offered too at the beginning ). I cannot recommend this restaurant based on our...
Read moreWonderful service and great atmosphere. A very inviting restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was less than we hoped for. we opened our meal with the King Crab Natural as an entree. It was from a frozen crab. The freezing process lessens the flavor of seafood, especially something as delicate as the King Crab. It was okay, but not at a $53 price tag. I asked for a merluza for my main course, but they were out. So I got a marisco risotto. It was full of mariscos and quesos. So pretty good. My wife ordered the grilled trout. She complained to me that it tasted like mud. So I gave it a go. OMG! It was terrible. It was cooked properly, but it tasted like a swamp. Okay, any restaurant can get a bad fish. It happens. The server traded her trout for the marisco risotto. No charge for the trout. The restaurant was very clean, to include the bathrooms. Everything was great but the food gives me question. Too many places here for me to try twice. The other clients seemed happy, so go ahead and try. Maybe you’ll have more...
