Updated 2024 June We've been here multiple times now because we feel like it normally offers some really good food. We don't normally go back to many restaurants too often because we're constantly trying something new. But we go back to 2KW because it's normally so good, today was a disappointment though. It was lots of little things: - No salt with the bread / butter. The bread was advertised as pumpkin and sunflower seed, but it wasn't pumpkin bread with sunflower seeds, it was bread with pumpkin seed and sunflower seed. Obviously quite open to interpretation, but even considering it was meant to be a seeded bread, it didn't have many seeds in it. - A quite boring mushroom empanada that you can get a many markets. It needed a sauce. Maybe a chilli XO? - Chickpeas on the eggplant were just plain, boiled chickpeas... Seriously? Why weren't they fermented or sauteed in sumac or something? - We were told the eggplant was fried and crispy. It wasn't! Not even close. - the Paris mash was a bit stodgy. Should have been much more buttery and needed salt (and I don't eat much salt because my two year old eats the same meals as us, so I don't add salt). - The fried brussel sprouts needed a pomegranate glaze or citrusy/yuzu dressing. They were just a touch dry and needed a sauce to make them more cohesive. The walnut crumb needed to be more significant than just some crushed walnuts. - The raspberries on the chocolate tart aren't in season. This makes no sense because they're not very good quality and are very expensive. Why not caramelised persimmons (which they had a truckload of in a bowl on the bar)? And when I asked about the raspberries on the chocolate tart, I was told by the waiter, "Now you're just being rude." Seriously, that was insane. She then realised what she had said and started back tracking a little, but I was literally talking to her about food in season. And my water didn't get topped up once! Resorted to drinking my partner's. Honestly, based on this last experience, I could not recommend!!! 2020 December I've been here a couple of times before and this was the kicker, NYE dinner. It was awesome. The food was amazing, the service was excellent. The ONLY downside, the DJ! The music got too loud in the dining area way too soon before midnight. It made it impossible to talk and we ended up yelling at each other. And his choice of music was very dated. But the food.... The food! Twelve dishes of yum. It was all delicious and some of the best lamb shoulder I've ever had. The crab crumpet was wickedly good, the wagyu tataki with fried okra was brilliant and the roast chicken moist and juicy and flavourful. A fabulous way to send off 2020.

We went with the $110 feed-me option. Here are my thoughts on each dish: Tuna – Terrific. Fresh, clean flavours. 10/10 Bread with cream – Simple but perfect. 10/10 Hash brown with scallop – Loved this. Crunchy, buttery, and indulgent. 10/10 Leek with prawns – Not for me. I just don’t think leek belongs anywhere other than a soup. 4/10 Chicken with beans – The chicken itself was delicious, but the sauce overpowered the flavour. Didn’t really need it. 7/10 Steak, carrot & fries – Unfortunately a miss. The steak was fatty and chewy, which was disappointing. Fries were nice, but I don’t like salt-and-vinegar seasoning (a personal preference). Carrot was simple but nice. It had a delicious lentil hummus like dressing on it. 5/10 Lemon tart cake – A bright and fruity finish. 8/10 Overall, the entrées really stole the show — the mains didn’t quite live up to them, which was a bit of a letdown. For $110, I’m not sure it was fully worth it. Next time, I’d probably go with the $90 option, especially since I’ve heard there’s a beef dish instead of the steak, which I think I would’ve enjoyed more. I also tried the matcha latte cocktail – sadly, a 3/10. It didn’t taste like matcha at all, more like toothpaste mixed with coconut water (which I later found out was in it). Not my thing. On the positive side, customer service was fantastic, and I really appreciated the great range of gluten-free options for me as a coeliac. I’d like to come back again and try some food individually! 😊

My partner and I came here for a nice date night (we’re from rural SA so don’t get to do this often). We where amazed with how gorgeous the venue is! The food was absolutely phenomenal! the customer service/ care the staff provided was outstanding. Unfortunately I cannot give more than 5 stars. I highly highly recommend checking out this restaurant and bar! I strongly suggest getting the lamb shoulder and the triple cooked vinegar and salted potatoes! The lamb is dressed with quite a sweet dressing/sauce and can be a little off putting/ over powering. The vinegar on the potatoes can be quite over powering as well but when you have a mouthful of both combined it is the most amazing taste and absolutely worth the money! I also love that they practice sustainability by purchasing and supplying from local South Australians as much as possible! Their flat water is also from the local Adelaide hills. We will definitely be back! Thank you 2KW Edit: we came back again almost half a year later and where served by Andy again, I must say he’s exceptional and super easy to talk to! He definitely does an amazing job when it comes to customer service! So glad we came back! (Same meals where purchased the second time)

I attended on the 24th of october to take my friend out to celebrate her birthday. I booked for the $90 per head feed me menu. On arrival i approached the front of house lady and stated that we had a booking, she then responds with "what?" in a shockingly nasty tone, i repeated what i had said (feeling extremely awkward and self concious at this point), she then looks at the list of bookings and said "oh" looks my friend and me up and down with a scowl on her face and then says "through here". Not even a smile from her. Please keep in mind my friend and I were dressed in neat, fashionable, cocktail attire, not that it should matter what we were wearing, and were extremely happy and friendly when approaching the lady. Then once seated we had some cocktails (which were delicious but expensive) and waited for our food. The entrees we shared were 6 oysters, a garlic flatbread and a roasted capsicum dish with a tomato and chickpea sauce on the base which was flavourless. It then took over 35 minutes for us to receive our next course, during that time my friend had made a joke that i would receive a bowl of carrots as I am a vegetarian and she enjoys teasing me for that, i nearly fell out of my seat when i genuinely got served a bowl of roasted carrots with a small serving of curd on the side. For my friends main she had a VERY small serving of chicken with a chilli sauce over the top. The dessert was a slice of coconut vegan cheesecake with passionfuit puree that we shared, it was okay but very dense and basically just tasted like solidified coconut cream and some passionfruit. The quality and amount of food that was given for $180 was abysmal and honestly embarrassing, I have been to so many restaurants around the city who do a $60/$70 feed me menu and you get such great food and you walk out feeling as though you might explode from eating so much deliciousness. Later that evening when i got home I ate more food as I was left still hungry and unsatisfied from your menu. It makes me sad that 2KW rests on the fact it had a great venue and does not seem to care to excel their food or service. Extremely disappointing and have told many people around adelaide to NEVER GO THERE unless for a cocktail and a view. The total bill was $328 which to summarise was 6 oysters, bread, roasted capsicum, carrots, chicken and a slice of cake including 3 cocktails each and I feel it was the biggest waste of money and apologised to my friend for taking her to such a disappointing establishment. Will not be...

We went to 2KW last night (four professionals meeting after work) and unfortunately, the experience left us more puzzled than anything else.

I arrived early around 5:30pm (for a 6pm booking) and, with the restaurant still empty, was offered a drink on the balcony while I waited for the group. I declined, happy to be seated if our table was available. When two more of our group arrived, we decided to go ahead and have that drink on the balcony after all.

Almost immediately, we were told by the maître d’ that we had the table only until 8:15pm, and not to spend too long outside. At this point it was 5:40pm. Then, about ten minutes later, the same maître d’ came to find us on the balcony to remind us (unnecessarily) of our booking time limit.

When we were seated it was around 5.50pm and were then informed that our table was now needed by 8:00pm instead. A bit confusing.

We looked over the menu for about 15 minutes, but felt oddly pressured throughout. We were checked on repeatedly as though we were taking too long. When we finally ordered, we were told the food would take a while because it would all come out together. Which was no issue for us, but again, the messaging was mixed: we were rushed to order, rushed with the expectation of leaving ASAP but then told to expect a wait on food.

To be fair, the food arrived in a reasonable time and was decent. No complaints there.

But then, shortly after finishing our meal, we noticed the same maître d’ pointing us out to our server, who soon brought over the bill without us requesting it. She asked how we’d like to split it, disappeared briefly, then came back with the EFTPOS machine to process the payment right away.

We left at 7:30pm. Still 45 minutes before the original end of our booking, and 30 minutes before the "revised" end time.

Given the reputation and the setting, the whole evening just felt rushed, disjointed and uncomfortable. We never really got to relax or enjoy ourselves.

This experience was disappointing and based on it I would not recommend 2KW.

(Mind you - 5 stars to our young server who was friendly and professional. She took the order for 4 mains, 2 starters and 3 sides without writing anything down, and remembered exactly where...
