We stumbled upon this ornately decorated building on the way to the light rail. As it turns out, public tours were over. The guard said we could browse around the rotunda within his view, but no more further unfortunately.
Lucky for us, a government official overheard all this and told the guard that he would personally give us a tour. Highlights- we saw two chambers where laws are considered and voted upon. We also saw where the Queen of England sat during her official visit a few years ago.
It was a bit of a rushed tour, because the gentleman did not have a lot of time. But hey, we were very happy to get any tour whatsoever. Also humbled and appreciative that he went out of his way to help us on his own initiative and generosity.
After this whirlwind tour, we made our way to the light rail and headed back to our cruise ship. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and said hello. I did not recognize him. Then it occurred to me- this is the official that gave us the tour. He said that is why he only had a few minutes, he needed to catch the train.

Read moreI will no longer be able to freely visit the malls in my area at the moment due to Malinauskas illegal, unconstitutional, unethical abusive powers given freely to the Police. As a past victim of Police abuse and thuggery due to being mentally ill, I feel scared and very insecure to now enter here. I am unable to take medications due to serious side effects. I am aware that I can legally turn around and exit the mall quickly for my own safety if I see them heading for me to conduct an intrusive and unlawful search, but this will most likely end in an serious assault upon me and arrest. Hope the next state election sees Malinauskas removed as well as his shocking abusive acts so I and others can once again freely shop in this wonderful mall in peace without fear of being profiled as a threat by those who threaten so many...
Read moreMy rating is based on the lack of information. We checked the opening hours and guided tour info on their website. It says that weekdays, guided tours are proivded at 10am and 2pm on the weekdays. No specific info about closure of the place. Went there, no signs on the door or entrance saying whether the place is closed. Rang couple of numbers and found the place is closed until 5th of Jan 2020. I am not complaining about having a break. But it is very annyoing that we did our homework and got there on time and trying to find any info about the opening hours etc in the 39 degree heat... I have to say it was really annoying. I am very disappointed at the lack of professionalism of thouse mainintaining the websites of the parliament of SA OR the signage of such...
