La Boca Bar and Grill Adelaide Tuesday 14th January 2025. Chef’s OMAKASE 5 course menu
OMAKASE - Chef’s Choice FIRST COURSE Home-Made Corn Cake with deep fried pop-corn lamb sweet bread, prosciutto and smoked ricotta with Kangaroo Island honey. Paired with Mordrelle Sauvignon Blanc, extended time on lees. Adelaide Hills, South Australia. The corn bread is delicious. Sweet with smokiness. Buttery crisp edges with light creamy in the middle. The sweet breads wow smoke driven flavours with mild meat taste. I like. Add the prosciutto which is in crunchy ball. Smoke ricotta honey. Loved it. SECOND COURSE Dry-Aged Duck with roasted aromatic beets and malbec dark chocolate. Paired with Mordrelle syrah basket press. Langhorne Creek, South Australia. Red wine chocolate thick sauce. Hmmmm. Now this is fantastic. The duck prepared beautifully. Some crunchy skin some delightfully chewy means you get most out the flavours. Balance is spot on. The sauce the beets work excellently together. Yummy The duck is so sweet and delicious. The wine is another fine balance. 9/10 dish. Just wonderful. THIRD COURSE Adelaide Hills Lamb Cutlet with smoke eggplant, provolone, grilled tomato vinaigrette. Paired with Mordrelle tempranillo basket press. Langhorne Creek, South Australia. Amazing. Delicious lamb. Cooking is perfect. Crispy skin. The smokey eggplant together with tomato vinaigrette reminds me of Baba ghanoush. Which I guess is what the chef intended. Every time I had what is the eye fillet it is like butter. So tender so delicious. Really great meal. Of course the 3 bones or lamb lolly pops had to be stripped of their delights. Okay that’s what hands are for. The mix of eggplant tomatoes sauce is delicious. It’s a very thick vinaigrette but call it what you like it is worth bottling. FOURTH COURSE Parrilla Grilled WX Full-Blood MB7 Wagyu Eye Fillet with chimichurri and burnt broccolini Paired with Mordrelle Malbec basket press. Langhorne Creek, South Australia. All I will say is that was a very good taste steak. Perhaps slightly over. But delicious. Loved the sauce. Greens not eaten. FIFTH COURSE NOT EATEN Raspberry Clafoutis with vanilla bean mascarpone, vanilla Persian candy floss and merry berried...
Read morePlease note the pic below is not from la Boca it's from a place which serves real asado We were looking so forward to go and eat here but got completely and utterly disappointed we asked the waiter very specifically even my wife spoke in Spanish that we wanted asado with the bone and only meat no fish he suggested he will take out the lamb and chicken and give us asado only with sausage and calamari when the order came to the table both my wife and I looked in disbelief and asked where is the meat with the bone he said they serve it like this which is pretty much roast beef don't get me wrong meat was juicy and tender but also came with king prawns one little tiny piece of calamari and one piece of barramundi and no sausage that's not what we ordered we left pretty much all of it the manager was nice enough not to make us pay for the chips and dessert also offered us to come back the next day to give them another chance unfortunately we were not comfortable to come back but we still had to pay for the food from the mistake they made lucky for the hotel voucher otherwise I would'nve stepped in the restaurant you say you do traditional Argentina meat There is nothing traditional about how you served us the meat If I wanted roast beef I could've gone to an rsl I've included a pic of what asado should look like when served Please don't advertise that you do asado because you don't and Spanish people would actually think it's a joke Won't be coming back...
Read moreVery delicious, we really enjoyed our meal. We shared the surf and turf meat platter. Very impressed. My personal favourites were the barramundi , the lamb and the pork. The barramundi had excellent flavour and was cooked perfectly. The lamb just melted away in your mouth as did the pork. And despite how this the cracking was on the pork it was still perfectly crunchy. The beef was a little tough to cut and chew, and flavour wise it was ok, but not wow. I don’t like prawns so I let my bf eat them. The squid was definitely both of our least favourite. While it was cooked well, it was lacking flavour, it definitely could have used some texture as well. I was thinking that maybe the squid did have some seasoning which if it would have put it nearer to the top of the plate it might have been better. As the squid was down at the bottom and by the time we got to it, it was swimming in all the meat juices from the rest of the platter. We had a side of rosemary chips with our platter which were delicious. We also got the churros to share on the table which I didn’t get a photo of but they were delicious. And the dolce de Leche was perfect. I also had the kraken colada which was very nice. Overall we had a very good meal. Our server was very informative when answering our questions and gave us very good recommendations when talking to the...
