Seemed good to start with. Good looking menu for an above average price for the city. The boys with moustaches seemed pretty dismissive, but the female staff were nice. Asked to sub out something from breakfast and was interrupted with "We don't do substitutions," despite being happy to sub in more expensive items for less (happy to let me have scrambled eggs for a premium), but not reduce the price when I wanted something cheaper (swap out ciabatta for toast or tomatoes for more mushrooms). For $24 for a breakfast plate, you'd want to be able to sub out something you can't eat for something you can.
I got a coffee and my mother got a Coke, and I was pointed to the fridge and told to get the can myself. I asked for a glass and he pointed to the glasses on the inside of the counter where staff get them and told to reach over and grab one myself.
One of the male staff spilled milk all over the floor next to where my mother sat and instead of coming to clean it, he left it there. He acknowledged he spilled it, but didn't think wiping it up was necessary. My mother, who uses a walker, needed to get out of the awkward side of the table and squeeze through to get out so she wouldn't slip.
Final problem occurred about an hour into breakfast and I started to feel unwell. I saw mum home and then went home myself, only to get a case of diarrhoea. I hadn't eaten anything else that morning, so the only possible source...
Read moreAs the old saying goes 'a crowd draws a crowd' this was our experience as we strolled the Adelaide streets at 7:30sm looking for a place that would fulfil our coffee dreams. From across the street the warm glow of this cafe and the people sitting outside drew my attention. The cafe looked warm and inviting and as we walked inside my expectations were met through the warm yellow glow and the rustic veneer. Nearly all the tables were already taken but we managed to find one. I will list my review on each aspect of our visit. But first coffee. If this review was based solely on the coffee it would be 5 stars. Hot and strong and oh so delicious. I'm hard pressed to remember a better coffee.. The food. I ordered a croissant which was delicious but it was brought out with our coffees and my husbands food (bacon and eggs) wasn't brought out until I was well finished eating mine, I would have preferred they were brought out together. And speaking of the bacon and eggs, the menu cites 'crispy American style bacon' but it was definitely not crispy and I even heard the person next to us mutter the same thing when he received his breakfast before us. So that was disappointing. Service was ok. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful but the people serving the tables seemed a little abrupt. All in all I would definitely go back for the coffee which in itself was...
Read moreI recently visited this café for a casual catch-up with my friend and brought my son along. We arrived around 10 AM and had a bit of trouble finding the place—it doesn’t have a clear sign outside, just a small chalkboard sign at the coffee bar, so keep an eye out!
Despite that, the place was definitely worth the effort. It was a busy Friday morning, but we were still able to choose from a few available tables. We opted for a cozy corner spot to fit our pram comfortably. One thing I noticed was that we weren’t offered a high chair, which made me think the café may not cater much to families with young children—more of a go-to spot for office workers or quick breakfast meetups.
We ordered mochas, and mine came in a lovely mug. The barista’s latte art was on point—simple but beautiful. For food, my friend got the Bang Bang’s Breakfast ($27.50), which came with poached egg, streaky bacon, grilled cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, chipolatas, hash brown, and toasted ciabatta. I ordered the Sweet Liege Waffle & Bacon ($22.00), which included two poached eggs, streaky bacon, Liege waffles with maple cream and banana. It was incredible—I especially loved the pairing of the banana and cream with the waffles.
Overall, it was a great experience. The food was delicious, the coffee was satisfying, and the vibe was...
