The food was great but the service was very disappointing. I came here for dinner at 6:30pm on 26/07/2022 with my family to celebrate my birthday. The server who was taking care of our tables was on his first shift at this establishment and he made a lot of errors while taking care of us- first, we waiting for about 20 minutes after being seated to get our drink orders taken. Our server brought my grandmother the wrong drink after our drinks eventually arrived, and took longer to give her the correct one, which still included ice after 3 people on our table requested no ice.
We ordered two appetizers and four mains, two of which dishes was the peri-peri chicken Maryland. Each of us had to point out the menu items to our server because he couldn’t hear us over the music and had to come over to each of us to get our orders. We were told by another staff member that it would take 35 minutes to cook the peri peri chicken as it’s cooked on the bone and we’re asked if this is acceptable, and we said that it would be okay, we’re happy to wait. 45 minutes later our appetizers hadn’t arrived, so we asked our server if these would be out (it was just fried chicken tenders and corn fritters). He said he would check, and when he came back he told us that the kitchen had “skipped” making the appetizers and asked if we would still want them (I get the feeling that he may have tried to throw the kitchen staff under the bus at that point). We declined because we expected our mains to be out by then.
More time had passed and we asked another staff member to please let us know how much longer our mains were going to take, because it was well over the 35 minute window at this point (approaching 50-55 minutes). Other diners who had arrived after us were being served drinks and their mains quicker, finishing their meals and leaving before us. The staff member said she would check and returned quickly to tell us that they were on their way out now.
Unfortunately this isn’t the end of our experience. Instead of bringing out two peri peri chickens, they brought out one peri peri chicken and one brisket(??). We told this staff member that we hadn’t ordered a brisket at all and she looked very concerned, asking us if we would like to put in a peri peri chicken order now or take the brisket. We opted to take the brisket because we weren’t going to have one person in our party wait another 35 minutes to receive their meal while the rest of us eat and finish our own meals. We informed the staff member that our server had been making a lot of mistakes tonight and that we were at their business for my birthday dinner, and the staff member was very concerned at what had happened. She explained that our server was on his first shift with them and we replied that we hadn’t relayed all of this to him because he did tell us this and we didn’t want to discourage him on his first day. The staff member informed us that she would take the brisket off the bill to make up for the experience we had.
This staff member got a manager to come speak with us and he repeated what she had told us about our server being on his first shift, and that they apologize for the experience we’ve had today. He offered us a free round of drinks and repeated that we would not be charged for the brisket since we didn’t order it. We thanked him but declined the drinks as we were almost done eating anyway.
Inexplicably, one of the other staff members also cleared up our table and took my grandmother’s plate away while she still had a bite left on her plate(??). My grandma managed to grab her last bite before it was too late.
The staff also apologized by ordering some free desserts for us to share, and that was appreciated.
When we paid, we realised that the manager had also removed our drinks from the bill, so in the end we paid for 3 mains.
We didn’t say a word to the poor server who was initially handling our table. In summary, the food is great but the service needs a lot of work. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re celebrating a big...
Read moreThis restaurant deserves a higher average rating. Do not be fooled like I was into thinking it was "just another trendy burger place". We flew from Melbourne to have dinner with friends and I had an absolute craving for good, tender meat. We were originally seated at the bar (fair enough, we booked on the day and it was very busy and popular - clearly!). We met up with friends that we had not seen in a very long time. It was a bit difficult that we were sitting beside each other in a row to have conversation until we were pleasantly surprised at being offered a table, we felt really lucky! I cannot praise the service here enough. The servers are constantly aware, which I find so incredibly rare. I have never eaten at a restaurant where the servers are consistently making sure every table has been tended to and plates cleared when needed. I never expected such high level of attention from such a busy place, these servers were superb! I hate having plates that are waiting to be cleared just blatantly left for 20min+ as I awkwardly converse with friends - but this place does it right. Then we had a slight issue with our order with their QR code option. Nothing we deemed their fault, just technology being crappy as it can be sometimes. Instantly we were reassured by the (what I assume to be a manager - a handsome young gentleman!), swooping right in and immediately resolved the situation by sending our orders to the kitchen as we were still figuring out the tech side of things. Talk about quick and efficient. The food... believe me when I say no expensive fine dining restaurant can compare to the beef brisket with a Mac n cheese to die for, topped with a delicious caramel/butterscotch sundae!! 10/10 food. 10/10 service. The manager apologised again for the issue but really, we were blown away by the food it didn't bother us as much! Oh and special shoutout to whoever's idea it was to put the menu above the hand dryer in the bathroom... smart, because you do stand there for a minute - what a good way to think about the menu and kill time!!! Will be back here again....
Read moreThis restaurant masquerades under the guise of a restaurant that claims they are a full service restaurant with a focus towards Burgers and Hotdogs. We were seated outside which was lovely and warm and were well taken care of by our waiter. We watched in astonishment as beautiful looking burger after burger was promptly delivered to neighbouring tables. We ordered the Honey soy wings which were lovely, the fried chicken slaw which was "great", the rocket salad which was good and a Double peri peri chicken burger which was horrendous. After seeing all these beautiful looking burgers being delivered to other tables one could imagine my expectation. When it arrived I was greeted with the most limp excuse for a burger I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. Literally two of the most paper thin pieces of chicken I've ever encountered. One tiny piece of tomato, one scrap of lettuce a smear of avocado reminiscent of something you would smear on a Petri dish in a science lab. For this miserable experience I was charged $26. I thought there must be a mistake! I thought how could this be, after witnessing some amazing looking burgers coming out. I promptly asked the waiter if this was in fact the double chicken burger I had ordered or had he forgotten my order and instead given me the single. To my astonishment I was told this is the double and he agreed that it was extremely ordinary and that many other patrons had indeed complained about this burger. To his credit he offered to get me another limp piece of chicken but by then I was already soured. This was literally the most uneventful burger my mouth has ever had the displeasure of tasting and I would not put my tastebuds through the indignity of giving it a second attempt. Perhaps the other burgers are better but $26 for that? My name's Billy not silly! If it's chicken you're after just go to Nando's or KFC and with the other $20 shout your...
