First time returning after 5+ years. Was busy and noisy. The closed of car exhibition down closed off Gouger Street didn't help. Duck Bao was tasty. Other guests enjoyed their wontons and dumplings. Main meals were plentiful and fresh and tasty. Food was great quality. Do not have an issue wth that.
My main meal, which was a wok tossed meal, so not overly complex, did not come until all other 3 guests finished and a side dish were ordered was not received either. Unsure what the issue was. It seems it was forgotten. We asked multiple times and were told it was busy, but others that arrived after were getting meals. Staff had to be asked and reminded a couple of times. Eventually told will be accommodated for this but was very uncomfortable for others as we could not all enjoy our meals together. Was given complimentary desert but not the others so awkward again as I had a meal and they didn't. Actually, it brought a good evening down. Made one friend quite upset as it was dismissed by staff. When you can only go out rarely these days, it is a shame to have an experience like this. Hopefully, they will learn from this as I would love to try more on the menu but hesitant...
Read moreCame here tonight (April 2017) for the first time. Friendly service, although they weren't too encouraging of us sitting outside ("we have a table inside of you like"), they agreed and brought us a table cloth and cutlery. My wine was poured under the line on the glass, however it was topped up at my request. The starters (prawn and pork wontons and pork belly) were amazing and we cleared our plates. My friends' main (beef curry with potatoes) was "very good" and also gluten free (they have a menu highlighted with vegetarian and gluten free dishes if you ask). My main (pork belly with dark soy) was good but I am not a fan of soft fat on pork belly - I would much prefer it as crackling. That being said, our waiter and waitress were both very attentive and friendly, the food came quickly and to top it off we noticed a St Vincent's van pull up and four huge cartons of hot food being loaded into it (this was around 6.45pm on a Tuesday night). We suspected that the food was from the restaurant for homeless people and the waiter confirmed as much. Any restaurant that helps to feed the homeless on a weekly basis will definitely be getting my loyal custom...
Read moreTop notch modern asian cuisine that represents some of Adelaide's top produce. Great balance of traditional Chinese spiced to open your pallet to fantastic flavours. We tried the Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese style pickled vegetables and Crunchy Soft Shell Crab and spicy green apple salad for entree. Perfect balance of flavours. We ordered the Pikes Riesling which is a favorite of mine to have with a spicy dish, but at $52 a pop on the menu when it retails for $25 on a bad day at the local bottle shop, and being a local drop, its a little bit of a stretch just on mark-up. For mains we ordered Angus beef curry with potato & peanut (massaman curry) which was very flavorful but the beef was a little tough which was a little unusual for Concubine. Along with the beef we ordered prawn chilli stir fry which was perfect, fresh and full of flavour. Overall a great experience. Wait staff are so lovely and build a great rapport with the customer. I love the wall paper and decor. Definitely the best pick on Gouger St. Thanks for a...
