What a shocker. Tried to get a nice takeaway meal to share with my family on recent visit. Ordered and paid before 5.30, pickup time allocated was 6.45. Uber got me there at 7, raced up massive staircase & the restaurant had NO IDEA id even ordered and suggested it might be 5-10mins. I had to get my big heavy bag out of uber, so 2 more times down/up stairs (i have physical disability which is not visible). Told again that it will be 10 mins (itd already been 10). No drinks avail for takeaway orders, and im late for work now so i leave my bag and do another round trip on massive stairs to buy drinks for all. By this stage im shaking, sweating from the exertion and in considerable pain. Finally our food is ready, 2.15 hrs after ordering and a whopping 45 mins later than the very specific pickup time offered when making the order. Was offered a glass of wine while i waited but i dont drink wine and they offered nothing else. The last time it took me at least 7 mins to get down the staircase with the food, drinks and my bag, every step difficult with (by this stage quite severe) tremors and my proprioception on holiday so clutching the rail for dear life, basically half sobbing, sweating - Not a single offer to assist was made, not by the servers who saw i had a heap to carry down, and not by any of the restaurants arriving patrons for whom it would have been crystal clear that 10 secs of help might avert a major crisis. When i got to my mums i had 8 mins to serve and eat b4 i had to go to work.
Side note that the food was AMAZING, but with a grand sweeping staircase unfit for use by anyone but physically fit and healthy i would think a little training in empathy, invisible and visible disabilities and ways to provide thoughtful customer care for those that need extra support, might be needed. Not least when running 45 mins late with a pick up order. Id go somewhere else before i ordered...
Read moreWent to Mrs Q with two girlfriends. The food and service by the table staff was great. However I don’t know how the staff in that place aren’t going to be deaf by the age of 30 the noise level was off the scale. Women in the ladies toilets were all complaining of deafness after leaving the room due to the noise level. The surprising thing about our experience was two of us ordered a mimosa - the waitress came back to the table and said unless it was on the cocktail list the guy at the bar wouldn’t make it. I said ok well it’s Prosecco ($10) a glass and a top up of orange juice so just bring two Prosecco’s and an orange juice to the table and we will do his mixology job for him. A different waiter returned to the table with two mimosa poorly mixed (way too much orange juice) in short glasses with a straw! He said “I’m sorry our bar person is in a bad mood so I made them for you”. We of course thanked him. When we got to pay our bill we had been charged $40 for two badly mixed mimosas. Which made the orange juice $10 per person. I questioned it pointing out that a glass of Prosecco which we didn’t actually get was on $10 a glass. The drink was reduced and all was good. However, I find it interesting that a waiter would come back to the table and tell us the bar guy was in a bad mood ! Hope this feedback get back to the guy involved who easily could have poured two glasses of Prosecco and topped them with...
Read moreFantastic cocktails congratulations to Justin for his great recommendations. The mains recommended were sure winners: Bassaman Beef Cheek with Bassaman curry sauce. The slow cooked beef melts in your mouth soaking up the right amount of the not so spicy sauce. Just perfect. Not a hint of grease or heavyness that a normal curry carries. The salt and pepper egg plant doesn't look egg plant at all. The dish looks like beer battered fish nuggets but surprisingly 10 times lighter than battered fish because it is egg plants that melt in your mouth as you bite through the crispy crust. I asked for sweet chilli sauce as a dip as the big big serving is good enough for 4 people. The entrees: The dumplings with green curry sauce. Simply heavenly. Even for someone who can't take spicy food. The pastry of the dumplings soaks up the green curry and the prawn inside is actually prawn paste al dente.
The Beijing duck pancake is a bit of a let down because I was expecting roasted duck skin as in a normal Peking duck dish. This is sliced smoked duck's breast, very tender but edging salty in place of the Peking duck. The pancakes (6 of them) were well presented and didn't dry up so easily. It is a difficult thing to master. Hoping that the cook will improve in managing our expectations.
Thank you Justin, manager of Mrs Q. Surely I am looking forward to coming back for other dishes and your...
