Came back here after quite a long time to try them again. Unfortunately, we felt the overall experience was only mediocre. The food was not too bad, but not very good either. I'll detail them below item by item. It also took a long time for the food to come out, which didn't help with things. It's not a bad experience, but there are definitely better Japanese restaurants here in Adelaide. . Aburi salmon and aburi scallops nigiri sushi: we think these nirigi sushi was not torched enough. It might have tasted better if it was slightly more torched. . Nasu dengaku: this one was pretty good. Nice soft eggplant with a tasty sauce. . Okonomyaki: pretty nicely done! Quite good. . Potato croquettes: this one was good, but nothing special. Pretty hard to mess up something that's deep fried. . Gyoza: was decent but nothing too special either. . Aburi salmon roll: reasonable flavours, but again could've been more torched, similar to the aburi salmon nigiri. . Deep fried soft shell crab: good dish but hard to screw up something that's deep fried! . Tempura mixed: a bit on the bland side but otherwise the flavours are ok. . Pork katsu: good deep fried pork cutlet.

Edit: 15 June 2025 Food was decent, but waiting for over an hour to get our mains wasn’t right. Seemed like there was only one server and everyone’s food came out at different times so we couldn’t enjoy it altogether. When i approached the staff to enquire about when the food was going to be ready as we were late to a function, the staff simply replied that they were preparing it now without any apologies. Looks like numerous reviews struggle with the same thing. The soft shell crab special was disappointing though, heavily doused in spices and couldn’t taste the any flavour of the crab. I’ve changed my review from a 5 to a 2 star as i can’t fully recommend this place again until the waiting times improve. Original review: Hidden gem in the southern suburbs with tasty side dishes and mains. Highly recommend their soft shell crab, tastes way better than sushi train and its crumbed perfectly. Sashimi was also of high quality. Had good ambience with lots of decor that gave a Japan vibe. Side street parking is readily available. This place is a great choice when you want good quality Japanese food but can’t be stuffed travelling to the city.

By far, the utmost disappointing Japanese restaurant I have been to in a very very long time. A group of 7 had booked for 6pm. We arrive and we have our order taken at 6:15. No table water was served or offered. We get two of 7 dishes come out in about 25 minutes. Sashimi and spider roll. We were left waiting another 40 minutes for 2 more Udons, 2 ramen, miso soup and a teriyaki salmon RICE dish. I was very frustrating to sit by and have other people offer their food because they felt bad the others were still waiting for their food. If you can’t take or handle bookings more than 5, don’t. If you are, roster more chefs on. By far the most ridiculous service I’ve had in a long time. The food was all so average and the ramen noodles were literally 2 minute noodles and the rice dice was the size of my palm.

The food here is fantastic but the service is soooo slow!

We were seated straight away by a lovely older lady, but then waited about 10 minutes to have our drink order taken, and another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. The lady did not take orders, pour drinks, or collect food - she just seats people and clears tables. There was only one waiter in the restaurant doing everything else - a young man who didn't seem to be in any kind of hurry. We watched him walk back and forth multiple times delivering one plate of food at a time before he finally brought our drinks.

We ordered our food when they drinks came but were still in the restaurant for around 50 minutes before we got our meals. We had finished our drinks by then but didn't bother ordering any more A) because it was too hard to actually place an order and B) because we didn't want another hour to wait for them to arrive!

While we were sitting there, we overheard multiple people complaining about the slowness of their orders, and one couple had to cancel their meal and leave because they couldn't wait any longer. Another grumpy customer then asked if he could eat their meal if it was cooked before his!

The grumpy guy then explained to the waiter that the Capri Cinema is nearby and many people who come to the restaurant are probably going to a show and therefore, can't wait all night. The staff had apparently never heard of this cinema. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Most people in the restaurant looked pretty cranky. I'm glad we went there after our show at the Capri. I certainly wouldn't go there if I was in a hurry to go...

Family booked a table for 4 after a day out in the city. Normally we would go to Yakitori Takumi on Melbourne Street (They are 5 stars everytime) but we got in late and they were fully booked.

We ended up deciding on En, we have been there a few times before but this time was pretty disappointing.

From when we walked in, the place had a scent to it that a few tables ended up talking about.

The service was fine but the food just seemed like a lack of care and no freshness.

We ordered a heap of share meals and it was all just very plain and bland.

Some of the worst Yakitori I've had and very average shop bought takoyaki.

**edited after response from En.... we came with our 7 year old and 5 year old, 2 weeks closed could explain the bad smell in the building. We left some of the takoyaki, 2 of the 3 chicken wings, half the plate of pork belly which tasted microwaved.

The food just tasted like there was lack of care and authenticity.

Pretty bad when your 7 yrd old says we can do better chicken wings in the air fryer 🤣.

Just a pitty that we had this experience and don't really need to be told how our experience was and what we ordered from the restaurant when leaving honest feedback for them to...
