If I could give zero stars, I would. This place was an absolute nightmare from start to finish.
I ordered the big breakfast, gluten free (which the server confirmed), only for it to arrive with regular bread. When I pointed this out, the server didn’t apologize or remake the dish — she literally grabbed the bread off the plate with her bare hands and handed it back like it was fine to eat. At that point, everything was already contaminated. Who knows where her hands had been?
When I explained that this wasn’t safe due to allergies and asked for it to be remade, she dramatically threw her hands in the air as if it was an inconvenience. Eventually, she returned with what looked like the exact same food, just shifted onto another plate. To make matters worse, she told me that next time I should specify gluten free when ordering — even though my receipt clearly shows I was charged extra for gluten free bread. So not only was I blamed for their mistake, but I also paid for something I didn’t even get.
The customer service here is shocking — rude, dismissive, and completely careless with food safety. And honestly, even if the service had been acceptable, the food itself was disgusting. The breakfast was dripping in oil and tasted like pure grease.
Between the horrible service, unsafe food handling, and inedible meal, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. Save your money and your stomach — there are plenty of better...

Read moreWe had a wonderful experience at Ilcafe Glenelg! The location is perfect — just a short walk from the beach, with a cozy and relaxed atmosphere both inside and out.
The food was absolutely delicious. We tried Turkey hot melt and roast chicken, and everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. You can tell the kitchen really takes pride in the quality of what they serve.
The service was excellent — the staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. They made us feel right at home and added to the overall positive vibe of the cafe.
It’s a great spot whether you’re after a relaxed breakfast, a casual brunch with friends, or just a good coffee and snack while enjoying Glenelg.
Highly recommend Ilcafe for anyone visiting the area — we’ll...
