I don’t understand small business’s these days, who complain that no one comes. I arrived with my mum to have a nice casual lunch, it was a nice day to sit outside. I like tp to take her to different places. The menu, especially for lunch is too expensive.. any restaurant or hotel that is not catering to seniors and having a lunch special (even for office workers close by) obviously doesn’t care about filling up the place.. smaller serves.. ( as older people do not want large plates) and lunch choices for $20 would be better.. a $35 pasta or chicken salad for lunch is way too expensive.. mum had a cheese tomato fresh focaccia at $24 is too expensive. I opted for a bruschetta at $19 and was not a great one, small tomatoes cut in half (plenty of them) with way too much olive oil was bought out.. very average. No wonder there was only 4 people eating at 12.30 on a Thursday. Would not have covered the staff in there costs.. all i know is i go out regularly for lunch, places that offer lunch meals around $20 and senior discounts are fuller than those that don’t.

A delightful and relaxing environment to sit and enjoy your morning breakfast. Customer service was friendly and attentive with my order served promptly. I was truly amazed at the serving size of Bacon and Poached Eggs! 3 slices of toast which was light and yet full of flavour with Devondale butter portions. Plenty of Bacon and a large Tomato cut in half, with a char grilled flavour. Pot of English Breakfast Tea was hot and served with extra sugar as requested. I look forward to trying a Pizza (their specialty). Check the boards above the counter for daily specials. A good selection of cakes are also on offer. Inside has soft bench seating or padded chairs, very comfortable. There are many tables outside to choose from. Wheelchair ♿ access is only available outside as both entries have small stairs. Parking available on Barton Terrace East or Childers Street. I highly recommend you visit next time you head into the city, stop at Pellegrini's first!!

Serving classic Italian meals, along with a separate extensive schnitzel menu, this cafe has something for everyone. Service is very helpful and efficient, with meals coming out quickly. First night we visited, I had a superb 9in pizza supreme, which was easily enough for one. My wife tried the spaghetti bolognaise main - after seeing it served to adjacent diners - and rated it amongst the best she has tried. It was easily enough for two, so we went back for a second night and shared the spaghetti bolognaise this time - it was just as great! Only small disappointment was the dry garlic bread, because the bread was too thick and the butter insufficient. I'd skip that in future, unless they make it more moist.

Terrible customer service / rude staff and management !!! A friend and I dined in last Wednesday night where we had Gourmet Chicken Pizza. As I promised mum I’d bring her food, half way through the dinner, I went to the counter ( the same waiting staff who served the table took my takeaway order ) I paid for take away pizza, pointed at my table and specifically mentioned I want “ the exact same thing I am having now”, that is Gourmet Chicken Pizza.

Went home and gave mum the pizza, she took one bite and told me it’s Lamb and she can’t eat as she’s allergic to Red Meat ( we both are ). It was around 10 pm, and she has been waiting for this for dinner , so no other food options available, went to bed empty stomach after having a cup of tea. Around 3 am she woke up with a severe allergic reaction, her whole body Itching and turning red, so I gave her anti histamine to manage the situation and felt terrible as my mum is here visiting for a short period of time. Called the cafe to inform that they have given me the wrong order. The same wait who messed up my order picked the phone and 1st told me what I ordered was the Lamb Pizza. Told her that is not true as I even pointed at the table and said “I will have the exact same Gourmet Chicken Pizza” . Then she said she couldn’t understand my accent. ( For my 15 years of living in Australia including completing a Masters degree at Uni and working as a mental health social worker, never had any issues with my ACCENT!).

I called the restaurant again today and tried to speak to the manager . Another staff told me that the manager is not available to talk to me over the phone but they are sorry about my mum’s allergic reaction and happy to refund me and offer a free pizza if I can get to the cafe.

I finished work and went to the cafe to speak with manager who flatly denied that their staff said they made a mistake because they couldn’t understand my accent and said she is happy to “ throw in a free garlic bread” and give me the correct order. I said I was told by another staff member that I will be reimbursed and also given a free pizza for all the trouble I went through, but happy to take get my money back and never to return again. I will actively discourage any of my work mates, friends or acquaintances from visiting this place as this is shockingly rude, terrible customer service. Staff including the manager needs to be given up-to date training on basic...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My experience at Pellegrini today touched my heart and demonstrated what true hospitality looks like. I was accompanying Domenic, a young man with Down Syndrome, who had $20 from his father for lunch and coffee. When we realized the focaccia and cappuccino he wanted would cost more than his budget, our server showed exceptional kindness and humanity. Without hesitation, she went to speak with her manager about the situation. They quickly agreed to adjust the price to accommodate Domenic's budget, ensuring he could enjoy both his chosen meal and drink. This may seem like a small gesture to some, but it meant the world to Domenic and showed remarkable compassion and understanding. The food was delicious - the focaccia was fresh and flavorful, and the cappuccino was expertly prepared. However, what truly sets Pellegrini apart is their staff's commitment to making every customer feel valued and welcome, regardless of their circumstances. In a world where we often hear about businesses prioritizing profits over people, Pellegrini stands out as an establishment that understands the importance of human connection and kindness. They didn't just serve a meal; they created a memorable experience that made Domenic feel respected and cared for. This restaurant deserves recognition not just for their excellent Italian cuisine, but for their outstanding heart and humanity. I highly recommend Pellegrini to anyone looking for both great food and genuine, compassionate service. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all so very much, this experience...

Came here for dinner tonight and the initial customer service set the tone for the night. We were told we couldn't sit in a particular booth, but put on the opposite side of the restaurant despite the other table not being reserved or used while we were there. The guy serving us looked a bit miserable after we asked for serving bowls and cutlery for our toddler. Then when clearing the table only half the dishes were taken, and despite there being only one other table (right next to us for some reason), the waitress was more focused on getting more plates and napkins set up than providing good service.

I ordered the seafood pasta which was supposed to include prawns, calamari, scallops, barramundi and mussels, but was totally missing the scallops and barramundi. For the price I was extremely disappointed that half the dish was left out. It was super salty as well.

My husband had the lamb cutlets which was a massive portion (4 pieces) however it was cooked inconsistently, with half being almost raw and the others well done. His lacked the salt that mine had excess of.

The highchair was also very grotty so we ended up having to hold our baby while trying to feed her and ourselves.

Overall pretty disappointed and won't be back for a long time. There's plenty of other similar restaurants nearby so service and food should be up to scratch if you want to...
