So me and my partner ate at star of Siam on Saturday 24/05. It’s was my first dining here and honestly the food was well below average for authentic Thai cuisine. The fried fish was very basic almost like most fish and chips batter. The charcoal squid/pork dish was very mid as it was very bland and the dipping sauce was very sweet. Honestly the only good thing that came out that nice was the cold beers and service was actually good! Honestly it had to be one of the worst asians restaurants I’ve ever experienced as far as taste went. To even top it all off I got food poisoning from eating there that night. After 1 hour of dining there, I drove home and immediately began vomiting profusely and having gastro. I was bed ridden for 3 days and had to take off work due to the food poisoning. After talking to star of Siam management regarding the incident they just won’t take any accountability regarding the claims and really push me to go to the hospital to prove that I’m extremely sick to them in order to get a refund.. they then tried to offer a gift voucher and I found that quite insulting as in what person in any normal mindset would eat at the same restaurant that made them sick. I rather just post this so everyone can know how they treat their customers. Like they put me out of financial circumstances and can’t even offer a refund is beyond my imagination. I guess they need all the money they can get before more people get sick from eating there.

This is my two cents regarding star of Siam and I hope they do better. Starting with cooking better food. So many better Thai restaurants out there like regent Thai,Bangkok snap, Phuket town just to name a few. I personally wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as you would feel super let down by the food. I actually don’t know how they even got so many high reviews must be from friends and relatives cause no way someone could actually...

I have in my working life in Hospitality seen a lot to few to mention here...what annoys me the most in Hospitality is poor service and low standards, whether basic hygiene practices,or just plain customers service. Last night I had the most unpleasant experience walking in to Restaurant and realising immediately this is the wrong place! This place was an absolute shocker it stunk it looked visibly tired and dirty... it was below anything I have ever seen..(I know you must think why going there in the first place? I was actually after a specific dish wich they pride themselves of being the best)...long story...anyway I paid my due walked out immediately afterwards as I felt certain it was going to ruin our night...(you can teach an old dog new tricks) so I had to make rearrangement for a table of 8 as it was a 50 birthday celebration for someone special to me. I then tried my luck at the "Star of Siam" a lot of you probably know this place and a lot of you know this Lady in the pic.. I told her what happened (Restaurant was busy almost full)...she said give me 10 minutes and so it went....I HAD ONE OF THE BEST NIGHT!!! the food was executed perfectly it was tasty well presented and so was the service...we had the best time ever.. I have visited the Star of Siam many times in the past it has always been consistently good and Jasmine is the absolute SUPERSTAR what an Icon what an inspiration you are.. thank you for kidness and...

I’ve been dining at Star of Siam for years, and every visit feels like coming home. The ever-welcoming Jasmine greets you with the warmth of a family matriarch—walking through the doors is like being invited to a loved one’s home for dinner.

The service is truly exceptional, a cut above the rest. The team at Star of Siam isn’t just professional; they’re genuinely joyful, attentive, and seem to anticipate your every need without being intrusive. It’s rare to find such a consistently high level of hospitality.

And then we come to the food OH. MY. GOD. Each dish is a masterclass in flavour, balance, and care. The sea star broth is rich, full-bodied, and comforting, with dumplings so delicate they feel weightless. The pandan chicken is incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth. The chicken fried rice, a revelation—I’ve never been able to recreate those flavours at home no matter how hard I try. The green and red curries are vibrant, layered, and each bite truly is a party in your mouth. Honestly, I’ve worked my way through most of the menu, and every dish has been a standout in its own right.

I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Star of Siam delivers world-class flavours with heart, consistency, and affordability. It’s a rare gem that I will brag about to anyone who’ll listen—for as long as they’ll have me at their tables.

I will be seeing...

If I had to describe this place with one phrase - it would be a 'pop Thai' restaurant. The flavours presented were very pronounced and presented Thai dishes you normally enjoy with quick service. The grilled squid with sauce was excellent. The acidity of the sauce complimented the flavour profile of the dry outside texture of the squid. 9/10. The Gaeng phed ped yang (duck red curry) presented at this venue's flavours were prominent however the portion of meat left something to be desired - 7/10. The Sea Star 'dumplings' were a personal favourite of mine, I loved the shape of the dumpling itself and the flavours of the sauce it was served with. 9.5/10 The pepper and garlic chilli pork was a classical dish that was flavoured superbly well. The flavours did not hold back as compared to other Thai restaurants I have encountered. The interpretation of this dish at this venue was a personal 10/10. The fried coconut ice creams were priced reasonably and have been consistent in the multiple times I have eaten at this venue. 8/10. Overall, this establishment has simply served good food consistently at a reasonable price. 9/10

I've been to the Star of Siam a couple of times for a family lunch in the last few months. It's in a very convenient location across from the Cemtral Market. Both times we have been greeted and seated promptly with a cheerful attitude from the hostess. It's clear they're used to getting meals out quickly for the office lunch time crowd. I had Pad Thai the first time (pic attached), which was delicious with a nice wok char to the dish. More recently I had Pad Snow Pea with the squid option. Again, a delicious dish. There's a good number of wines by the glass plus beers, soft drinks etc. I love Thai food and look forward to trying more of the menu in the future!
