I have been to Zuma many times and usually love it, however I felt the need to post a review for this most recent trip as unfortunately the experience wasn’t great. I ordered the hash brown Benny, thinking this would be a classic eggs Benedict on a hash brown base. It came out looking empty. No greens, ham or sprinkles of anything else which I found unusual for the high price point of the dish. As you will see the eggs were overcooked completely to be nearly un-edible, and the hollandaise it was drenched in had no flavour and just tasted like pure butter. I was so sad at this dish, it could easily be elevated by adding some ham, bacon or even a splash of greens. Even some salt! It had no flavour and was not cooked correctly. Something as easy as eggs Benedict should not be this poor or expensive for so little. I could have easily made this at home with the same frozen hash browns. There was also no table water available which I found strange for a cafe, although it was busy.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Great Food & Atmosphere in the Heart of the Market Zuma CafĂ© is a reliable and welcoming spot right in the heart of Adelaide Central Market. The location is perfect for people-watching and soaking in the market’s energy while enjoying a meal. The menu offers a solid range of breakfast and lunch options — classics like eggs benedict, fresh sandwiches, and hearty salads are always well-executed. Coffee is consistently good, and the service is friendly and efficient, even during busy hours. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, which adds to the laid-back yet professional vibe. The only reason for holding back the fifth star is that the food, while delicious, plays it a bit safe — nothing too adventurous or particularly unique. Still, it’s a dependable choice when you're after quality cafĂ© fare in a vibrant setting. Would definitely return — great spot to relax, refuel, and take in the buzz of the market!

Absolutely amazing breakfast & service! Not even a few minutes after ordering our coffee orders were at the table. Delicious, hot, and my matcha was probably the best I've tasted during my travels in Adelaide. Staff were quick efficient and lovely. Food arrived shortly after and my goodness was it heaven! We ordered the focaccia brekky sandwich and it was such a huge proportion for the price. The focaccia was so light and fluffy while the bacon and eggs were also cooked to the perfect texture creating a dancing experience for the senses - the cheese sauce was DIVINE! Highly recommend visiting. Very excited to come back next year when we visit Adelaide again from Brisbane. Thank you for the lovely hospitality.

Subject: Deeply Disrespectful and Discriminatory Treatment at Your Restaurant

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding an upsetting experience I had at your establishment today. A tall individual with a fair complexion, who appeared to be part of the management team, approached me in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner. Without asking whether I intended to purchase anything or even speaking to me respectfully, he abruptly said “GO AWAY” while physically moving my food to point out a sign that stated “For patrons only.”

There are countless ways to communicate a policy, especially in a customer-facing environment, but he chose a tone and behavior that was not only disrespectful but felt humiliating and discriminatory. I was treated as though I had done something wrong, and people around me began to stare — it felt as though I were being publicly shamed for simply being there.

I have never felt more embarrassed or unwelcome in a restaurant. Whether or not this was racially motivated, the aggressive and dismissive way I was spoken to was unacceptable by any standard. No one deserves to be treated this way, regardless of the circumstances.

I hope your management takes this seriously, not only for the sake of your future customers but to uphold the basic values of respect, inclusion, and...

Went to Zuma Cafe in Victoria Market today on a recommendation for breakfast. Ordered grilled tomato, mushrooms, avocado, & toast, plus a black coffee. The restaurant was moderately busy at 7.15am.

The food arrived very quickly on a cold plate, the grilled tomatoes were only warm an almost raw, the avocado was okay apart from serving with all the black discolouration left on the outside which needed cutting away. The mushrooms were mostly okay but several showed signs of being too old for serving. I thought the highlight of the dish might have been the toast until I turned it over to discover it was only toasted on one side, coupled with solid butter pats obviously straight from the fridge I was to say the least exceptionally disappointed.

I certainly couldn't say the staff were rude, but the service was cold & abrupt.

To end on a positive note the coffee was very good, hence 2 stars instead of one.

I'm really hoping this was an exception rather than normal as returning from covid lockdowns we need to support our small business in SA. Although critical I hope this may help the business in the...
