If you’ve ever thought, “Wow, I’d love to sleep on something slightly more forgiving than a footpath while being serenaded by the gentle ding-ding of trams until the wee hours,” then congratulations - you’ve found your nirvana and this will be the experience of a lifetime for you! This hotel is right along the tram line which was convenient, however in a bold rejection of modern soundproofing, features windows that might as well have been made of gladwrap. Double glazing? Apparently they’ve never heard of it. So even if you could fall asleep on the mattress (which you can’t), the trams will make sure you don’t.
Speaking of the mattress, it was a marvel of modern discomfort - thin enough to question its existence, with springs poking through like they were trying to escape the misery too. At checkout, we were casually informed that they had forgotten to put a mattress topper on. Oh, that’s what was missing. Just a small detail, like comfort, sleep, or basic hospitality.
The pillows were equally avant-garde. Imagine bricks, but with less give. My neck and back still think they owe the hotel money and are being punished accordingly. However, IF you want to realign your spine the hard way, these pillows will be perfect for you.
The shower situation was also a highlight if you’re into water spraying at anything but your body. In a display of plumbing Picasso, the faucet was attached to the wall with what appeared to be craft glue and a dream, making it impossible to aim the water anywhere functional due to it having the precision of a broken garden hose. Water pressure? Great. Direction? None. I did, however, manage to wash the back of my knee and clean the wall of the shower simultaneously, so there’s that.
As for entertainment, don’t expect Netflix or anything post-2004. The TVs are an ode to the past, outdated and offering a handful of free-to-air channels and a few half-hearted Foxtel options. It’s like time-travel, only sadder.
Housekeeping was… whimsical. They had a fascinating, interpretive approach - some days they’d make the bed, other times they’d just let the room develop “character”. Wiping down the tables and benches apparently wasn’t in their spiritual journey.
All in all, if you’re looking for an experience that will make you appreciate your own home like never before, this is the place. One star for giving me a renewed sense of gratitude and for the unforgettable experience - and by unforgettable, I mean my back will never let...
Read moreDear Quest Owner,
I hope you see this review. I would like to bring to your attention an unfortunate incident that occurred last night at your Quest King William South hotel. As a frequent customer who has stayed in numerous Quest hotels across Australia, I have never encountered such blatant racism from the staff members and management.
It is disheartening to witness such poor training and disregard for treating individuals with respect and dignity. Being a member of society, no one should be subjected to the discomfort I experienced at your hotel reception, especially as someone travelling from interstate.
When I attempted to address the issue and referred to your policies, it became apparent that the rules being imposed upon me did not align with your actual policy. Upon questioning this discrepancy with the young lady at the reception, she promptly contacted the manager. Unfortunately, the manager spoke to me in a rude manner over the phone, giving me the ultimatum to either accept the policy or leave.
In light of this situation, I made the decision to leave the hotel voluntarily and requested a refund. However, the lady at the reception refused to provide the refund and instead called the police on me, falsely claiming that I had threatened her. I would like to bring to your attention that there are cameras at your reception, which would clearly show that I did not engage in any disrespectful behavior. I implore you to review the video footage and listen to the audio recordings to verify the truth of the matter.
As a result of this distressing experience and the treatment I endured, I found myself stranded in Adelaide without alternative accommodation until this morning. I believe it is in the best interest of the Quest franchise to disassociate itself from staff members who behave in such a manner. I wanted to inform you in advance that I will be taking legal action against your establishment for the way I was treated.
I trust that you will address this matter promptly and appropriately. I await...
Read moreI’ve stayed at this hotel about 5 times prior to my recent visit and experience decent service from the staff. Booked a room a couple months in advance for 20 nights over the holiday break. My only request was a room higher up for the view. I arrived at the hotel today and without communication was put into a room on the 3rd floor with a stunning view of a graffiti wall and car park because apparently a team from interstate is now arriving and they’re apparently prioritised over myself. Upon arrival, I was advised of the situation and whilst the situation was being explained, I was told by reception staff that I was free to go elsewhere. I was lost for words. If you book here, perhaps get something in writing seeing as they go back on their word. Started of good and service went to s*. They advise you that they’re going back on their offer after arrival so you have no choice to stay there as everywhere else is booked. Pathetic.
Update: Got told by Taylor to leave the premises today as they weren’t happy with my review. Taylor charged me an incorrect rate, told me to grow up and that my family and I can find somewhere else to stay. Glad I recorded the conversation and will be lodging a complaint with their head office which Taylor said he couldn’t wait for. I could’ve understood if I was abusing him verbally or physically but I remained calm. DISGUSTING behaviour...
