I am never usually inclined to review restaurants but this was a truly disappointing experience. I’ve removed 2 stars for 2 reasons - 1 star removed for the poor customer service, and 1 star removed for the poor quality of food.
I’ve been to Lucia’s a few times but it’s been years since I’ve been back so I was excited for an authentic Italian experience. My partner and I walked in at 8pm (an hour before close) and 4 workers walked past and ignored us before we were rudely greeted by a flustered lady (assuming some sort of supervisor). No hello, just asked if we needed a table and gestured to a few free tables inside before announcing that there’s a VERY long wait for food. She then muttered about closing the kitchen soon before walking off, leaving us to find a table alone. We should’ve walked off then but we decided to give them a shot. First we got our drinks (beer and wine), which were lovely. We ordered the olives as a starter and were very disappointed. As a Greek who LOVES olives, I don’t think I’ve ever left a bowl of olives uneaten until last night. The olives were not ripe and inedible. The consistency of them was hard and not a nice flavour at all. Then the pizza came out and the portion was tiny. Both my partner and I are not big eaters, and yes, we were explained that the pizza is a single serve… however, by looking at the size of the pizza, I would think it would be more suitable for a child. The pizza was yummy and thoroughly enjoyable, but after a few bites, it was gone. Lastly, we ordered avongole pasta. The flavour was very average. My partner comes from an Italian family so we’ve had our fair share of authentic Italian food and this dish was really lacking. We occasionally got crunchy mouthfuls of sand due to some of the clams not being washed properly. Pretty off putting but we ate it all because we were starving. No one asked how the food was, and I didn’t want to approach anyone regarding our experience. I’m quite a reserved person who doesn’t do well with confrontation and didn’t want to approach the lady working there due to her rude and unapproachable demeanour. Unfortunately we left hungry too. Hoping I can return one day and have a better experience but for now I’ll...
Read moreAlways a great place to dine at the Central Market Adelaide with friendly staff and mostly for the location within the market and its atmosphere.
Be aware that due to extreme popularity there are long waits to be seated as seats are limited and people storm in on Friday nights.
Having said that all, the food has not much variety however their lasagne and pastas are very good, anything with red sauce, very delicious and lite however their pizzas are not really a pizza to enjoy and their pesto sauce for the pasta is terrible.
Our friends are regular customers and one of them tried their pesto twice (as first time was not enough to judge so gave a second chance) and didnt tell me anything.
Tried it myself and it was the worst pasta I have ever eaten. Absolutely no taste apart from the parmessan garnish. Imaging eating a raw boled pasta with smell of pesto. No salt no flavor.
Then the friend shared her story and said both times she tried it it was exactly like thatl.
I stringly recommend to dine at Lucia’s however STAY AWAY from their Pizza’s if you know what a pizza is and also from their Pesto sauce for your choice of Pasta if you don’t like to be disappointed.
The sauce needs a lot of work done to get some flavours otherwise taking a bite of the basket that was hanging in their nextdoor part of the shop would give you more flavors.
Their Parmiganas aren’t quiet what you expect but its actually really delicious and lite. Their Spinach Raviolis are also great.
Havent tried their sandwiches and breakfasts but ghey should be good too.
Enjoy it at Lucia’s and be realistic leaving comments. Noticed some poorly...
Read moreWe went here for a birthday and the experience was extremely disappointing, especially as we have been coming here for many years. We ordered 3 cappuccinos (extra hot) and 1 almond cappuccino. What arrived was only 2 cappuccinos and 1 almond. We waited for the third, asked a staff member, and were told it was coming. Meanwhile, the coffees we did receive were cold. After asking several more times, the third cappuccino still hadn’t arrived. When we asked again, the staff insisted we had only ordered 2 cappuccinos and 1 almond. The reason we believed we had ordered 3 is because the prices charged matched what we expected for 3 cappuccinos and 1 almond, not 2 and 1. Instead of acknowledging this or apologising, the staff member was rude and argumentative. Finally, after chasing it up a fourth time, they brought the third coffee, throwing it down with a dismissive “here’s your free coffee.” The whole experience was terrible, especially given the occasion, and showed no customer loyalty or care despite our years of coming here. Even the remade coffees were unpleasant. Rude staff, poor service, and very...
