We ordered two wine flights and were told to wait at a table and they would be brought out shortly. There were only two other small groups of patrons so we hoped that we'd be able to try some wines and then buy a couple of bottles to take home before they closed or had to stop selling alcohol, which would have been about 45 minutes after we'd arrived
We were still waiting patiently almost 20 minutes later, so I approached the counter and tried to flag down one of the three staff in case they'd accidentally missed the order. Accidents do happen so this wouldn't have been an issue at all. However, I was completely ignored until my "excuse mes" became loud enough that the other patrons across the room looked over.
One of the staff asked what I wanted so I explained the situation and that because we now wouldn't have enough time to do the flights without rushing we'd like to be refunded. They discussed it with their colleague who pretended that they didn't know what had happened even though they were the one who originally served us, and after they very bluntly told me to repeat our original order they asked what I wanted them to do about it. I mentioned the refund again and they said I'd need to talk to their manager who they pointed out before they left me to go do something else.
After explaining the situation (for a third time!) to the manager started processing the refund right away which was appreciated. At no point though did anyone apologise or seem to want to make things right. Nobody was remotely apologetic, even the manager, and they made me feel as though it was my fault that they'd forgotten our order.
Even though I'd still love to try/buy some of the wines on offer I definitely won't be...
Read moreStaff need better training and the supervisor needs to check her attitude. I’m not one to write reviews but I’m so incensed by our poor treatment that I feel compelled to. We came in for lunch, decided what we wanted, so ordered at the bar. The young girl must have been quite new because she needed help to process our entertainment voucher and the whole order taking took a long time. Then the poor girl accidentally rang it all up on an already open tab so had to start again. All this time I was pleasant, not demanding, and patient. I could sense people behind us getting frustrated and her supervisor getting annoyed with her. I heard her say to the supervisor “they wanted to order here” to which I said, “oh I’m happy to pay later if it saves some time”. The supervisor then snipped back at me that it was “too late for that”. Clearly I’d made a grave error in ordering when/where I had. I now realise that it was likely table service however no one actually told us this. When I asked for a receipt(needed for tax purposes) this then took another long while for the poor girl to try to do, she asked if she could bring it to me later. I said, not nastily, “that’s ok, but I will need to get it” just so she knew it was important. Her supervisor snapped at me “you will get it” then snatched it from the other poor girl’s hand and threw it across the counter at me. The supervisor in question, who I will not name, should ensure her staff are trained properly and not blame customers for her own ineptitude to manage stress. We won’t be returning. Tip for customers: check if it’s table service or bar ordering (seems to change on a whim) and give yourself plenty of time to...
