Food quality: We did the Feed me share and opted for the $25 extra Wagyu steak ($25 flat add on, not per person). Entrée's were the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Falafel. The sandwich wasn't what I was expecting, I thought it would have an actual piece of crispy chicken inside but it was more like a flat piece of thin crackling like chicken. It tasted alright but I would've preferred more to bite into, bit disappointing. The falafel was nice, cooked well and the sauce was tasty.
We were then served with the Dahl, cabbage, tomato & peach salad, and a chickpea salad. The dahl came with some toasted bread which dipped nicely and was warm and fluffy. As for the cabbage and salads, they were fairly flavourful but didn't do much for me.
Our mains consisted of the Peri Peri Chicken, Wagyu Sirloin and some Pipis. The wagyu for $25 was great, we had it medium rare, it was juicy and the sauce/yoghurt with it paired nicely. Would recommend it if you enjoy steak and want to split it between two. Didn't try the pipis as I don't eat too much seafood. The Peri Peri chicken was very spicy for me, I'm not a big spicy person but I can handle up to a mild normally. This was quite hot and finishing it was a challenge. I had to ask our waiter if they had any milk, 5 minutes later he returned and said he went on a journey to find it but managed to get me a glass.
Finally the desserts, we didn't know what we wanted and so our waiter ended up just bringing us all three of them. The mousse was pretty standard tasting and the buckwheat added a nice crunch. Not bad. Crème fraiche icecream + Rosemary shortbread was quite interesting, the rosemary was a very odd flavour incorporation and while I didn't love it, I didn't hate it either. The beetroot sorbet was probably the weirdest sounding dessert of the three, but it was the best tasting one - I do like beetroot and didn't know how it would taste in a sorbet form. Pleasantly surprised though and enjoyed it.
Half the dishes were average and the other half were good - an expensive per head price, but they do claim to keep bringing out food until you are full so you can get better value if you are a big eater. There are definitely other places with equally, if not better foods for a much less per head cost. A lot of the foods were unique compared to most places but if you are willing to try something different, it's worth experiencing.
Service quality: Excellent, our waiter was attentive, friendly and very helpful. Considering he went on a 5 minute search for some milk for me.
Speed of service: Pretty fast, about 5-10 minutes after ordering we had our initial entrée's. Meals after this came out at a steady pace.
Ambiance: Tuesday night around 6:30pm. Was very busy and quite loud, atmosphere was enjoyable though and the decorations in the restaurant were interesting.
Price: Expensive. $85pp + $25 for the steak add-on.
Hygiene and cleanliness: Tables and restaurant all clean and nicely presented. No complaints.
Food: 3.5/5 Speed: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Price:...

Fun vibe & super friendly service. We were expecting much after a couple of recommendations to visit Africola.
We opted for the "Feed Me" menu, expecting the Chef to put together a selection of favourites to surprise & delight.
For the starters we were served the Falafel bite, the chicken Tea skin sandwich and the chorizo on bread.
Lots of bready dishes, and not a lot of flavours or textures that really "popped" or made us smile that smile you have when your palate is revelling in the flavours.
The Chicken Tea Sandwich with peri peri drippings for dipping was a cute idea which was ok - but didn't really work for us.
The chorizo on Portuguese bread with sauce was as it sounds... sausage on bread, tasty without being a dish I'd order again.
The pipis were next, a yummy broth was the highlight of this dish.
The mains course was the shaved cabbage salad (coleslaw?) Courgette salad, roast pumpkin, and boom chakalaka chicken.
The Chicken was delicious. Easily the standout dish of the evening. Succulent, charred just right, and perfectly sauced & seasoned. Every bite was a delight.
The roast pumpkin was also tasty with a creamy sauce and herbs.
The huge mountain of "shaved" cabbage salad was a coarsely cut plate of really bland coleslaw. More raw cabbage than an entire table of 4 would probably eat as a side, and then only if they ran out of tastier options on the table.
Likewise the heirloom courgette salad was uninspiring. Perhaps it was always facing an uphill battle competing with the richer, spicier flavours of the other dishes, but it lacked any real oomph.
By the time the dessert course rolled around, we could only manage one dessert between us - having been filled up with bread, cabbage & pumpkin dishes.
We opted to share the Chocolate Cremieux which was rich, creamy and delicious, although we failed to detect any of the advertised "mintiness" in the green sprinkle on the chocolate bark.
Final verdict:
Out of the 9 dishes that made up the "Feed Me" experience. There are only two we might order again - the Boom Chakalaka Chicken & the dessert.
In hindsight - we probably would have had a better dining experience if we had selected our own dishes. Even though the majority of folks rave about the food - it was not the amazing flavour experience we...

Kingfish sashimi, miso, nectarine, basil The Kingfish is refreshing and I love the use of miso to provide a salty seasoning
Crispy chicken tea sandwich, peri drippings The sandwiches encase a layer of thin crispy chicken skin which is so yum but be warned of the peri dripping sauce, I took a good dunk and a big bite, the chilli at the back of the throat immediately had me gasping. It's not that hot but chilli straight to the back of the throat is not a good idea!
Kohlrabi cake, tofu cream The kohlrabi fritters are so delicious! They do remind me a bit of salt and vinegar chips. A lovely thin batter encases a tender slice of kohlrabi and the rich tofu cream is yum.
Goolwa pipis, warrigal greens, white pea The pipis are excellent, tender and that broth is so flavoursome, with a touch of a sour note rounding out the flavours and enjoyed with the fermented grilled sourdough.
Swiss mushrooms, white bean, chilli crisp The Swiss Brown mushrooms are cooked to perfection, juicy, tender, and are kind of meaty in this dish. With the ultra smooth white bean paste and the hit of chilli, this is amazing! Dish of the night.
Welsh onions, taratoor, pepita Welsh onions are yum along with the taratoor dalmond paste) providing a meaty body to this dish but so many flavours going on here.
Sprouted lentils, pistachio, preserved lemon I like the sprouted lentils, this is cold but is very refreshing against the other dishes.
Boston Bay pork skewer, jalapeno The pork skewer presents lovely tender pork, nice char on the outside, a slight crispy skin of sorts sealing in the flavours, this lovely creamy sauce on the top and a jalapeno hit for some added flavour. Yum
Apricot sorbet, sherbet On a 37C day a refreshing apricot sorbet is perfect and this is smooth, fruity, summery and with the mandarin, even better. They were supposed to give me another dessert, I was way too full after mains. Wow, a delicious array of dishes all with unique flavours, a superb dining experience. Also got the added bonus of watching the kitchen at the bar.
