Stopped by on my last evening in Airlie Beach with my husband and four daughters for a celabratory birthday dinner and was greeted with a condesending, "Are you okay?" Just as I was about to answer the server did an about face and made his way towards another customer. My husband asked me if I wanted to eat there and I answered that I was unsure if we were going to find someone to seat us. (Just prior to this encounter we had been waiting next door for a server for several minutes and none showed. I thought it was part of the same establishment, but later found it was not.) Anyhow, this server, who I later confirmed was the owner, retorted "You can stop it with your drama because I just walked up to you and asked if you were ok." He followed that with another extremely rude and condescending remark. I replied with, "Wow. It's my birthday." My tone was that of disbelief that this conversation was taking place as I was out looking for a place to celebrate. Before I continued, the individual cut me off and said, "So what, everyone has a birthday until they die. That's nothing special." I was so disgusted by his nasty attitude and behavior towards me and in front of my four young daughters that I did some research to find out who he is so I can contact the tourism board in the Whitsundays and Airlie beach and make a report. Additionally, I will be flooding social media with a report of my experience as well as submitting an article for publication in a well-known source used by hundreds of thousands of travelers. I asked locals and nearby businesses owners who he is and I was told by four out of four people that he is disliked around town because of his behavior and that he has gotten into so many arguments with customers that one actually punched him in the face. I am surprised he has only gotten punched one time. The stories that were shared with me just confirmed that this individual, named Dave Cranston, is regularly disrespectful towards visitors to Airlie beach. Bottom line is that I wouldn't reccomend spending a dime at this establishment unless you want a grown man to be sassy, rude and disrespectful to you and your companions. My family and I stayed in Airlie for nine days and between the six of us we spent thousands of dollars and to be treated in such a way truly sickens me. Dave Cranston is a terrible representative for Airlie beach and my published reccomendations from here on out will be that travelers who visit the Whitsundays stay in an area where visitors are welcomed and treated with kindness and respect. How this individual is permitted to run a business in the heart of town is beyond reasoning. Big black mark on tourism here that will be noted in several...

Hi there ! Me and a friend (also a girl) went to this good looking restaurant. And ordered the special of the days. The waiter are good and friendly. But then we waited a long time... The waiters came twice to us to tell us that they were going to check for the food. Finally after almost 1h the food arrived. The waiters apologiezed. The food was good and we also didn't denied it when the waiters asked. Once we were finished we asked kindely if it was possible to get any kind of compentation for the 1h waiting. The owner/manager came to us. My friend explained friendly to him putting her hand on his shoulder saying that this can happen but she was willing to hear some kind of apologises, this didn't happen at all instead - he shouted « don't touch me !» with a crazy atitude. He didn't apologised once for the waiting time. A few minutes later he came back with a 10% discount, still being agry about us.. Even though it should have being more us being angry about him (!) and he said «if you were just looking for a free food». Free food was never mentioned, a few apologies and a little discount would have been fine and most of all respect...
Read moreFirst night: We had 2 prosecco and the fried calamari. Prosecco had a raspberry on the glass, one of which was moldy on the inside. Tells me there's not enough eye for detail/hygiene.
This was confirmed on night 2: We ordered a cocktail (which was fine) and a neat whiskey. The glass for the whisky was dirty on the inside, outside and had something floating in the drink. After requesting a new glass, they poured it over, taking with whatever was floating in it. Second glass wasn't clean either. After pointing this out again, I finally got a clean glass and they sieved out the pieces. Instead of just pouring a new one.
Final straw was when I looked at the bill on his iPad (which they didn't actually show me): They charged me $15 for the whiskey which the menu listed for $10. After pointing this out they changed it, but they still ended up overcharging us.
Will not...
