Saw high rating in this place and gave it a try. Very disappointed. This is why I don’t like it:

I ordered a wild Barramundi fish and chips. I added $1 extra for grilled fish. The fish was so salty that I am still having salty taste in my mouth at this moment (after two hours passed). I am pretty sure they put double salt on my order.

I asked for catchup. They told me that I needed to pay $2.50 for it. This is unbelievable. Most of the places offer catchup for free if you have French fry.

The dining environment is terrible. There are 5 small tables on the street. You have to wait to get one of them.

Long waiting time to get the food. In my case, it took more than 20 minutes for a fish and chips.

Overall, this is a takeout restaurant with everything below average. Maybe their standard fish and chips (the fish is fried, not grilled) is good. But the grilled fish is definitely terrible.

I don’t recommend this place...

We had the grilled double platter, and it was absolutely sensational. So fresh! And marinated and seasoned to perfection. It was hands down the best fish and chips we've ever had, and we are in our 40's. We ordered it on a day when these guys were absolutely slammed. Not only was the Airlie Beach Festival of Music on, but a cruise ship also made an emergency detour and docked in town due to a cyclone, so the town had another 5000 people on top of the festival goers! To say Airlie Beach was packed today is an understatement. We ordered at peak dinner time and our order was ready in 15 minutes. Because they had been so slammed, a few things weren't available, but they made up for it and some. The staff were so lovely and friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough! Sad we are leaving tomorrow, or we would definitely...

I had crumbed mackerel and potato scallops, And my mind was blown! 🤯🥳 Perfectly crumbed, flaky white, seasoned and no overbearing smells or flavours. ❤️

Tender, tasty and overall the best crumbed fish I have ever had!

The potato scallops (or cakes if you must!) were cooked really well, exactly to how I like them, golden and crisp with hot, edible centre, and true taste of a delicious potato. The batter was thick enough to hold together but not a barrier to soft well seasoned centre.

The owners were super friendly when ordering, clearly explained the pricing and the order details, and then asked outright how my food was at the end.

I cannot recommend this outlet enough, and will ensure I come back when visiting Airlie - a lucky town to have such a great takeaway!

A true golden find, in good and...

Whitsundays seafood bar is in a great location right opposite the beach in Airlie beach. There is outdoor seating available & inside is a bright & impressive display cabinet filled with fresh seafood prawns, oysters & crumbed fish & prawns. A large menu board with plenty of seafood & other options ie platters & burgers. A range of cold drinks are available. We were greeted by the owner Marco & he took our order promptly. The food arrived & serving size was great, the fish, prawn cutlets & chips were hot & you could tell it had been cooked in clean oil. The fresh prawns were so good & reasonably priced, the tartare & garlic sauces were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the food & highly recommend this place for fresh quality seafood, can’t wait to come back next time we visit.
