This place will soon surely become the wine and food star of Albany, if not already. It has a sophisticated bar atmosphere in an ordinary location on the main road. Small, with big knowledge of wines, and a clear grasp of conscientious cooking. The wines by the glass were very reasonably priced, and questions easily answered. There was a lot of care taken with the food. It’s easy to get something like a pork schnitzel cutlet wrong: undercooked, or done too fast, or overdone and dry. This was perfect: moist, while cooked to the bone. Crispy crumb (panko?). A delicious slaw with shaved fennel on the side. I hadn’t had sprouting cauliflower before. This was cooked just right, and the tahini and pomegranate carried it off. Ditto the potatoes Bravos, again cooked just right. Only 2 desserts to choose from; the Basque baked cheesecake with rhubarb sauce was magical from its creamy centre to the toasty top. 10/10....
Read moreWowsers! We walked in very early on a Saturday night and was met with a delicious beer tap that had an xpa and a red ale both of which were fresh and cold. We ordered the prosciutto and pickles which drove our tastebeds crazy, the pickle was in fact a choko with a remarkabley soft delicate crunchy bite. The potato with freshly grated truffle hit the spot with so much crunch and flavour. We were so impressed we decided to go back for dessert. Oh wow baffled again at the best cheescake we have ever eaten plus a chocolate baklava that is hands down the freshest tastiest thing youl ever eat!!! We will be back!
