Some staff were rude and appeared bored, others were only too happy to help. Asked for a Gin & tonic with a slice of orange - rude lady behind the bar told me abruptly "Don't have orange." "Ok, a slice of lemon please?" "Don't have lemon." "Ooooook... I'll have a glass of wine, what's your house white?" "Here's the wine list." It was like I was somehow inconveniencing her night. Food was a bland and unexciting, despite the efforts of the menu writer, the deep fried Camembert was served with ice cold cranberry sauce... completely ruining the temperature of the cheese. The turkey was over cooked, the baked sirloin tough and the gravy non-de script. Only saving grace was I asked for a medium rare steak in the mayhem of a large table order and they managed to pull it off. We had the Gnocchi and the fish schnitzel, As a 99% vegetarian I will eat fish once a year, and because it's New Year's I thought why not. I wasn't impressed, so I'll stick with being Vego :) it was super thin and mostly tasted like crumbs. Well it was basically crumbed to death. Chips were slightly undercooked too.

The outside area out back had glass on the floor, which I assume is from the previous night. And the tables out front had ciggie butts and chicken bones at the table we were at.

This place does beer really well, but it still has to accommodate the bogans, Which it does well too.

Food was served promptly (within 15 minutes), steak was cooked to perfection and was scrumptiously filling at a great price. Staff checked to ensure the meal was satisfactory, then left me to enjoy. Staff were well presented, full of smiles and very polite and professional. The food was tantalising and I am absolutely devastated that I had no room for dessert.

Within 10 minutes of me finishing my meal, staff arrived at my table and offered to take my plate and give me a dessert menu.

I am extremely impressed with the service and the food and recommend the White Star to anyone wanting a great meal at an affordable price with amazing customer service. Great place to hold a dinner function, or just to have a romantic dinner for two. The atmosphere was intoxicating.
